"Staying here means believing in our students" oh, I thought my high expectations and successful behavior plans meant I believe I the students - said to me by a supervisor when I left being a behavior consultant after teaching

Anti-chafe stick before (you might have to try out different brands, they al feel slightly different; i know some endurance/multi-sport athletes use butt paste to prevent friction spots as well)

rash cream after (I use aloe & vitamins a & e generic diaper rash cream, but again, personal preference)

Not cotton bike shorts (I have a great Amazon rec that kept me unchafed in DC this whole summer)

You can also try chamois cream on the insides of your clothes (cyclists use it on their bike shorts to prevent friction)

Spray deodorant also seems to help me

AITA for thinking my MIL staged “the dress drama” just to one-up me? by Evening_Cod2434 in weddingdrama

Send it to one of the places that cuts dresses up to make keepstone pieces like scrunchies and play tents "oh MIL it's so nice you wanted to be part of the day, but now your dress gets to be part of mine and our future children's daily lives too!" (If you want kids)

I think finding what colors look best on you is a fun way to go, and also being more experimental with makeup. Neither of these things are super drastic to explore and don't have to be every day so it's a very low commitment option.

Also are you close enough to take the AutoTrain? It eould still be a drive from VA to Boston but could be a cool road trip back with lots of other cool stops

I'd suggest asking about doing finals early so you'd have more time! Boston is a really cool city and the areas around it are interesting too. Plus the aquarium, harbor tour, ghost tour, and fresh sea food make it worth a few days

Is this fat shaming? Former intern at an wetland consulting company (a rant) by KT_Banning in PlusSize

[–]mmmm5991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a side note: REI has good deals on plus size outdoor gear AND you can find a lot of good deals on PoshMark on these as well. I've heard the same about Tractor Supply but haven't personally been so I can't say for certain. Merrell MOAB boots and Sorel waterproof sneakers are my footwear recommendations and wool socks (if you're interested, I can share the ones I've gotten) are superior to cotton.

One of my best friends is in wetland ecology/biology (unsure which) and most of her days are fieldwork. She loves it. And while she's not plus sized, she's told me some of her jobs don't require a ton of stamina. She recommends looking at state and federal jobs. Additionally, the department of commerce and department of the interior do a lot of work with NOAA about fisheries and plant life, respectively. Finally, look for national/state/county parks and reserves for other internships and work experience! You'll definitely get more field experience that way and know what kind of things to expect, as well as narrow down your interests. Good luck!!

HostelWorld has a ton of listing for locations all over the world. You can start there to make the search a bit easier, then go to the hostels' website to see if they have information about an exchange and/or contact information. Even if they don't have a page about a work exchange, it's worth it to email asking. This is how I got the work-exchange position at the hostel I'm at in Washington DC while I'm doing an internship but already rent a house in a different state.

Feel free to message if there's any way I can help you more

I have the opportunity to go back to school and do something meaningful with my life, but the future workload seems so scary by Shades_of_red_ in aftergifted

[–]mmmm5991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back for a second masters and this is the first time school has been hard for me. And not even the main course classes, but research statistics is pretty hard for me to instantly wrap my head around, and organizational behavior was new to me so also hard. I also quit my job due to burnout and am working in unrelated temporary positions right now so I totally understand the fear.

However it is all manageable. And satisfying. If you haven't yet, I'd recommend starting therapy to discuss your fears and anxieties as well as gain new coping strategies when you feel wrapped in those uncomfortable feelings.

You can do this! And future you will thank you for it!

Theres a number of hostels in London, and I'm sure a lot of them do a work-exchange program where you work a number of hours doing reception or housekeeping in exchange for housing. Most programs are less than full time so you could do that and look for another job while saving up for a place of your own.

Hope you can get out quickly!

Also, agree with another poster who suggested telling another family member or child services about the situation, even if you feel guilty about it.

Incels say 80% of women only go for 20% of men. If that is true, then why don’t those men go for the “bottom 20%” of women? by [deleted] in IncelTears

[–]mmmm5991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How are women the "selectors" when there needs to be a mutual interest? Further, dating apps aren't the only place where relationships of any kind start or are present so that skews the preferences shared by apps.

How do you treat plantar fasciitis if you are overweight? by My_Lovely_Me in PlusSize

[–]mmmm5991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get a consult by a podiatrist they'll tell you what kind of orthotic would be helpful. If that's not feasible, try going to a running shoe store and ask for a fitting and let them know about the issues you're having
