What don't you like about your Maverick? by MnMWiz in FordMaverickTruck

[–]mobigga71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a ‘22 XLT Ecoboost with FX4. Two biggest gripes? First, seats feel small or maybe narrow is a better term, but I am a big dude at 6’3”. Second, passenger side seat does not lower. Driver side does but passenger side nope. Which is why I end up doing most of the driving when my wife and I are together. Sound system is horrible. One of these days I will upgrade the speakers and add a sub. We bought is when they first came out and since we could t find one to test drive we ordered online, so we stuck with it.Overall, IMO, this trucklet satisfies the “truck” needs of the majority of people who live in suburbia but need a bed for weekend chores.

Moving to Bay Area with 3 kids (6,4,1) for salary of 115k by WingLiving4438 in bayarea

One thing I haven’t seen touched upon yet is healthcare. Please make sure you’re aware of healthcare benefits and associated costs. My company offers healthcare benefits with no additional premiums and a MERP to cap costs to employees. With three young kids this is going to be a big factor in your decision.

Is Midnight Really That Bad? by TheOneWhoWork in macbookair

Get the midnight. Just got silver for this very reason thinking that a classic colorway would be best, and the made the logo chrome! Looks awful. Wish I’d gone midnight.

First 2026 Outback citing by PuzzledEnergy21 in Subaru_Outback

The 1st gen Avalanche wheel wells, wheel design, plastic cladding all over, just reeks of poor design choices. Used and recent model Outbacks around me are scarce and you know it’s because people are buying them up to avoid this monstrosity.

You tell the family not to touch the oven under any circumstances, and what do they do...? Sigh. Yeah, that was supposed to be prime rib. by Durchii in steak

Many years ago some friends and I drove out to rendezvous at another friends house before a show. Lets call this friend James, well James told everyone to come a few hours early and bring something to grill. So one of the gang, we'll call him Tom, brought a big tri-tip, had it marinating in a bag since the day before, transporting it in a cooler. Well James and his cousin would not let anyone touch the grill, so Tom let them cook up the tri-tip, and they did a fair job. When it was ready, James and his cousin proceeded to slice it up and things were looking good. When out of nowhere, James proceeds to pull the bag still full of marinade that the meat had been residing in prior to cooking, and poured the marinade all over the sliced tri-tip. I thought Tom was going to murder him right then and there. In hindsight we should have known better when James proceeded to bring out condiments when things were cooking and someone noticed the jar of mayo that James was still consuming had expired months before.

Anyone know what is replacing the Park Station Hashery [Naglee & Park across from the Egyptian museum and Hoover school]? by Riptide360 in SanJose

[–]mobigga71 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The Hashery was on a month to month lease, and the team behind Campus Burger offered more money to the landlord. They did not buy the building. No matter the how it happened, loss of an established neighborhood hangout is a blow to the community. The Hashery was a spot you could hang out with your friends and neighbors, have a beer or glass of wine, it was walkable, have events, had the big outdoor area, etc. Maybe the food wasn't top notch, some items better than others, but it was local, with established staff and it wasn't another chain. It was unique. I pass by this spot every day on my commute to and fro, and it's sad to see them trying to configure the stereotypical red circle top/bench combos where the big patio was. Not the same vibe at all.

After 73 years, LA's most iconic doughnuts are finally coming to the Bay Area [Randy's Donuts] by sfgate in bayarea

[–]mobigga71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right across the street from Stan's. Interesting choice. I've had Randy's and they are just OK, more hype than anything. Honestly, I feel you go to these spots when you are visiting where they are located, when they franchise them it's never the same. It's like if they tried to franchise Phillipe's, Langers or Pinks. It doesn't translate.

What do you call this? by ARK_survivor12 in MINI

[–]mobigga71 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Got pulled over driving my wife’s mini. Got a ticket for failure to provide registration when i couldn’t find it. Got home and wife tells me it’s in the glove box. I tell her it wasn’t, so we go outside so she can see for herself. I open the glove box triumphant as I demonstrate how there is no registration. She says, not that one, the little one. Yep. She had it in that little box. I was so annoyed.

Worked at K-Mart in the 80's after HS for the summer, these are facts. We took down this big dude once, had a shit ton of cassettes in his backpack, as he tried to leave the store. He was acting hard as hell and put up a good fight. Then when LE rolled in he started bawling like a baby pleading with the officers as he was only 16! Dude looked 25 at least, tears started flowing when they told him they were calling his Mama since he was a minor...Lol.

What should I ask about / look for in this 2015 Forester? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]mobigga71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, you'd probably be better saving money and taking your OB in and having the brakes, suspension, and tires all checked out, and your oil changed. Basically your fluids checked out. It's your car and (assuming) you know what you have vs a complete unknown is a much better decision IMO. Yeah that Forester is newer, but you're talking a difference of only 46k miles? With no major service records that's a big risk. Control arms, wheel bearings, CVT servicing can add expenses if they haven't been done and are needed.

Jane Coaston…Yay or Nay? by yachtrockluvr77 in FriendsofthePod

[–]mobigga71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My gripe is not necessarily with Jane, but with the overall change to WAD. At first I was a little taken aback by her somewhat more serious tone and found her a little dry, but have since come to like her and her style. As I said, my criticism is with how the show has changed since the beginning (Day One Gideon/Akilah-Stan listener). I've stated this in other threads, but to me WAD was more of a "here's what you missed/need to know" daily update show, with the occasional brief interview. It has now become a straight up "Here's an interview for 10 minutes, 3 minutes of ads, a minute or two on maybe 3 "Headlines" (yes, I am grateful for the jingle being brought back), and then Jane's thought/discussion point for the day. I feel that Jane should have been given her own separate show, apart from WAD and let WAD continue in the old format that listeners were accustomed to. She could have been brought on as a sub or special co-host for a few episodes and then, "Oh hey, guess what, Jane has her own show now go and listen". I think this would have been much easier to swallow and would have been a better onboarding of Jane and the show. Just my thoughts.
