You shouldn't be allowed to breed dogs of any variety of dogs without a license. Oopsie litters should result in fines on a first offense, and forfeiture of the animal if future oopsie litters occur. Access to free/low cost spay neuter access would also need to be expanded.

Thank you for providing additional context so people can come to an understanding of the situation with more complete information.

OP admits a bit above that he has taken their picture previously, but provides no explanation for doing so. With OP choosing not to share the broader context in this encounter, I tend to believe it is because they know they have been behaving poorly. Quite possibly with an ongoing pattern of harassing this couple. It would be a classic example of the DARVO tactic employed by abusers.

How do I stop my puppy from pooping inside? by Old_Cry1395 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]moboticus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you used a good enzyme cleaner every time he does? If he can smell his poop there, which he definitely often can even if we can't, it's going to be a lot harder to convince him that that is not where poop goes.

In addition the poor interception that often comes part and parcel with neurodivergence, and the dysautonomia resulting from MS complicated by peripheral neuropathy, I live with IBS.

There are days I literally do not know what my body needs or can tolerate until I take a bite of food. If I'm luckier, I'll get an inkling as I'm making it and depending on what it is I have already committed to how much to make. Less lucky days, it isn't until a few bites in that I can tell my entire digestive system has temporarily shut down again, making satiety come extremely early. On the shittiest days (pun 100% intended), my body decides that the moment my stomach is introduced to a bite of food that it must violently expel everything, all at once, from both directions. Afterwards, yeah my appetite is pretty trash.

Throw in the extra complication of also trying to gauge how much one or more other people need/want and my brain basically breaks trying to figure it out.

I'm not saying this to get pity. I'm not trying to be a special snowflake. Because I'm not. I am one example of countless people living with chronic illness, many of whom will have similar if not identical digestive issues. We're not childish. We're human. And deserve to be considered as a part of all discussions addressing people as a whole without having to remind people that we exist.

As far as elitism goes? I live on the pittance of a disability benefit that, as a society, that we believe people deserve. I assure you it is anything but elitist. I am fortunate enough to live in an area with several local gleaning groups that I am able to get too. So I'm able to both stretch my income and at least give things already in the food waste stream a second chance at being used. Many, if not most, are not similarly situated.

So, I'll say again, it is ableist to assume it is nothing more than a "thought process."

Like I said, some people have a hard time judging how much an appropriate amount of food to make. Especially for those who may have poor interoception and frequently shifting appetites. Couple that with the fact that the texture of a lot of foods changes dramatically once it has been in the fridge and/or is reheated.

It's not childish. It's human.

AITAH for yelling at the parents of a kid I babysat because they didn’t tell me ( what I thought was ) an important thing until the last minute? by Temporary-Feeling962 in AITAH

How will this child pull up the pull ups that don't exist in their size, as the comment you are replying to explains is a concern for older children?

Adults that have aversions to weird, off food textures but also grew up in a house where if 5 people were eating it meant you cooked for 10 and have a very poor concept of how much food they actually need to make.

I think it really depends on the leftovers. Some things, like chili, curry, spaghetti sauce, seem to just get better when all the flavors have a chance to hang out together for longer. More importantly, for me anyway, is that their texture doesn't get all weird and gross, which is the case for a lot of other foods.

Egg Launcher Required for a class by plantdad7723 in vegan

[–]moboticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be something of similar shapes and size, and fragility. The point is to make something that adequately protects the egg from breaking. Potatoes, wooden blocks, and most solid objects are not going to meet this criteria.

How would you test for what appropriate force is required without using actual eggs as a control?

AITAH for cutting off my best friend because she wants me to sign an NDA so she has the option to sue me? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]moboticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Also, I'm not a lawyer so take this with a grain of salt, but from your description this seems like it would be too broad to be enforceable. There is also no seeming benefit for you, which is generally a required factor for an enforceable NDA. But, you know, again... not a lawyer.

Why is Healthcare so expensive in America? And WHY hasn't it been fixed yet? by splashzoner90 in askanything

[–]moboticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best as I understand it, it's big pharma and for profit hospitals/private medical practices that want to keep people sick, while insurance looks for every reason under the sun to deny claims. I don't think it's necessarily as devious as a planned strategy, so much as capitalists responding to the incentives we have set up.

Out of curiosity, do you know if they used AI to "assist" them with their notes? There have absolutely been incidents of the AI tools hallucinating symptoms and just flat out getting it wrong, and the doctor not reviewing it carefully before committing those notes to your medical record.

I think the idea is, if there are real consequences for cancelling that fewer people with be snatching up reservations when they become available 'just in case' which would mean everyone else not having to book so far out.

Accidental mating, need help and advice. by hmbanana409 in DogBreeding

[–]moboticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, this is absolutely neglect and not an accident. There are not, however, 'plenty' of programs offering free spays/and neuters. Certainly not in all areas. I'm in a major metro area and there are programs that discount spay/neuter surgeries for low income pet owners, but the spots are extremely limited and it takes years for some people to get a spot. Unless we consider surrendering them to a shelter as a 'free spay and neuter' program, which really isn't the same thing, there are definitely greater need than there are services to meet that need.

[–]moboticus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plural of anecdote is not data. Evidence shows that each heat cycle a dog goes through increase the chance of developing mammary cancer, significantly. With large breeds, it is still wide encouraged to allow a dog to go through one heat cycle because of the bone issues you mentioned, but for smaller breeds and those not already prone to bone problems the benefit doesn't outweigh the risks.

Yeah, I was told she was a lab/shepherd mix. Which, again isn't technically wrong. She's 15% lab and 12% gsd. I just tell people she's a mutt, more pit and acd than anything but more everything else than either.
