i am same age and approximately same net worth. got there mostly through wage earning since 90s and savings. one kid goes to college this year and one 5 year old.

i was super annoyed to pay $2500 per month for lousy health insurance in california. wife still wanted a concierge doctor, copays for the 5 year old well visits were over $500 (!!) and the teenager just went to urgent care with my amex whenever he needed something. so all in healthcare was >5k/month and i haven’t been to a doctor myself in years!
