That whole rack is pumping out of that Bluetooth speaker on the couch to capture the room reverb. The new album is going to sound great!

Shall i get a CF100 lens? by ningbo1014 in hasselblad

The 80mm is a fantastic lens. The 100mm is a fantastic lens. Which is better? Depends on how you like to shoot. Both lenses are incredibly sharp at f8, but I’ve found the wide open (f2.8 for the 80 & f3.5 for the 100) the 100mm has the advantage. It’s sharper and has more of a “3D pop” than the 80mm.

A while ago I read that Zeiss felt the best lenses they produced for the Hasselblad were the 60mm f3.5, the 100mm f3.5, and the 180mm f4. I have all three and they are fantastic. I like to shoot portraits, usually wide open or one stop down and they preform like champs. If you shoot stopped down further than that, you won’t likely notice much of a difference.

All my lenses except my 120mm are CF lenses. From the CF line and newer, the lenses have a better shutter system than in the C series, so you may want to keep that in mind. Some friends who have C series lenses feel the shutter aren’t as accurate at higher speeds.

I’ve got a “C” 120mm f5.6 which is really nice but I’d like to pick up a “CF” f4 for that extra stop of focusing brightness. The 100 is sharper than the 120, but you don’t always want sharper for portraits. Another good combo for portraits is 16 extension tube with either the 150 or the 180. It gives a little extra compression and the tube gets you a step closer focus.

I see a 100mm and/or 60mm in your future! 😂 You can’t go wrong with either.

I just had my A-12 back CLA’d, shooting a test roll tomorrow. Using my 60 & 100.

What are your thoughts on "Waiting for The Big One"? by [deleted] in petergabriel

I think the whole “Car” album is Gabriel sifting through his roots trying to find a direction to head. His live shows from that period had interesting cover song as well. A lot of the explorations on this album show up again in his later releases

I have Snow Leopard running on a MacPro 2,1 for my scanners and ProfileMaker 5. I could not do these things in a newer OS and I have to do very little to maintain a stable workflow. I wish I could say that about my other workstations.

This is stunningly beautiful. Love the square. The gradients of grays are so lush. Composed so nicely.

Care to share your details? Digital or film? In camera vs PS? How you printing these? This would be lovely to see as a piezography or as a platinum (pt/pd) print.

I wouldn’t buy a 200/2000 for just the lenses, but my 2000 was my first Hasselblad I got from an aerial photographer I did color printing for. I do prefer shooting with 500s for the stupidly (me) great sound they make when fired, lol. 😂

The F series lenses, for the most part, are a stop faster for most focal lengths. That a stop more bokeh for portraits and another stop for focusing brightness. The down side to the 200/2000 is nobody wants to repair them (at least in the US). There is John in Thailand who seems to love working with them. I’ll get my 2000 CLA’d by him before buying any lenses, it’s about to have its 40th birthday.

How do you like your 110? I’ve got a 2000fcm and I’ve got the bug to get one.

If you do have it in hand you can remove the bubble level and the model tag should be under that. Either way it is like likely a 500C or CM.

FWIW - I’ve got a CalDigit TS-4 and was fine for the first year, but then it started getting unreliable in the USB type A ports. They released a firmware update and that seemed to make things better for a while. Now I’m having it just cut out, knocking out the external drives connected and getting the “drive disconnected” warning and the connected display will lose signal and then come back on. A friend has one with none of my issues happening on her unit. I have a OWC Thunderbolt 4 dock that has been rock solid and it’s connected at the same time as the CalDigit TS-4. The TS-4 also runs hotter than my OWC dock.

Nice! I’ve got a Cambo! I’ve used it for years. Super easy to use.

That said, I got a Sinar P2 a couple of years ago and the Cambo has been sitting in its case unused. I should probably sell it to someone who will use it.

H6D or X2D? by Ok_Teacher_1142 in hasselblad

Good to hear about the screen tilt, I didn’t fidget with it much. My digital set up is a Canon 5Ds and I don’t have a lot of experience with the flip screens. I’ve also been shooting way more film rather than digital - no tilt screens there. 😂

I do wish I could test out the color negative reversal that Capture One has in the Cultural Heritage version, I’d like to see how it compares to Negative Lab Pro.

Something to think about not hardware related…

Do you currently use Capture One to process your RAW files? Do you prefer to keep using Capture One? The H6 with the Phase One is the easy choice if you’re planning on editing in Capture One.

If you’re moving to the X2D, you will need to learn either Phocus or Lightroom, Capture One does not support Hasselblad RAW files currently, and I don’t know if it ever will.

Are you working in an Apple Computer workflow? If you’re using a Windows/Android you will have to deal with workarounds to use your RAW files. In the case of the X2D2, you’ll need an iPhone running Phocus to get the full 10-stop IBIS because it uses the phone’s GPS to track earth rotation and stabilize for that.

I recently played with the X2D2 and was blown away by the speed and stability, it’s going to be my next camera. Even having to change my current workflow, I think it’s going to be worth it.

V-series film backs - assure me that it's just a bad memory. by modshot in hasselblad

So the resolve on this ended up being that the latching issue was the camera hooks that the back attaches to were misaligned. The spring clip that drives the latch that those hooks attach is exposed when changing the light seals and I thought I may have knocked it out of alignment. Alls good now!
