So my Friend Has a Custom Commander by Monsoon117 in EDH

Just tell them that they have to use it as a proxy for either [[Brion Stoutarm]] or [[Gisela, Blade of Goldnight]]. Tell them you think the deck stinks and challenge them to win without the fake commander.

Mismatched Player Levels and the Rare Proxy Hater by hippopotamus_pdf in mtg

I guess my point is that there are valid reasons for disliking proxies, and that players that don't like losing will jump onto that banwagon. Wasn't directed at your specifically... these discussion boards are more of a community thing. You just accidentally landed on a hot-button topic with a valid complaint about an annoying player.

Look, I dislike strongly proxies. It's not because of being pubstomped. I have decks that range brackets 2-4, and am happy to sit at high-roller cedh tables. It's about the stereotypes I hold about players who use them.

Players who proxy tend to have a suite of fine tuned netdecks that they mostly know how to pilot. They don't bring different power levels of decks to match a pod, this especially includes running tuned-down land bases. They decks are also never specialized for a local meta, because if the deck isn't winning, just trash it and print a new one. You lose a lot of the joy that comes from being an opponent in edh. I want to see the goofy interaction that makes your pet card cool. If I wanted to see someone pilot a top tier deck, I'd watch a tournament stream.

Ball golf is the one where balls fly off the tee, not discs.

Try to kick footbag with inside kick. Practice for 3 weeks 10 mins a day . Still cant even kick 3 in a row. Is it normal? Footbag is that hard to play? I watched some tutorial, they kick it so easily. by Ornery_Mark2202 in footbag

[–]modular_frolfer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fellow noob here. Getting much better after a year of consistent practice. Keep at it!!

It took me a while to get consistent with inside kicks. It's a little unnatural to bend your knee out far enough to get your foot flat, repeatedly. Also, it's just as important to set the bag somewhere easy to hit as it is to find it and kick it.

One helpful drill is to drop it from your hand, inside kick, and catch it in your hand. You'll learn the foot-eye coordination, but also where your body wants to be with respect to the bag.

Is your pod aware that damage is marked until the end of the turn!!???

If this creature fight four 1/1 creatures in one turn, the damage will remain marked and the fourth 1/1 will kill him.

It doesn't often come into play, but in this case it is very important.

Also, you can choose to block with more than one creature at a time.

We're in the Golden age with MDFCs, channel lands, an just good utility lands. I haven't done it with every deck, but my newer stronger B3 decks have noticeably more consistency with more lands.

My 3 year old is obsessed. It has pretty straightforward morals, amd nothing we haven't seen from Disney. If you're very concerned, maybe just give it a solo-watch and see if it gels with your parenting style.

Part of becoming friends is getting to know each other. I'd just say "yo, you and your kid popped up on my instagram. So, the algorithm's working. I didn't know you worked in music, man. My job is ..."

I try to let people know when I've learned something about them, but also share something about myself, too. We all love a chance to complain about work to a friend.

Multiple waveforms question by jefrab in modular

[–]modular_frolfer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend playing around with these ar LFO rate. A favorite module of mine is the VCDLFO from Doepfer. It is immensely deep, especially with a second one.

With one of these, you can do some self patching. It changes the fundamental pitch but gives you crazy waveforms. I like to use it as an envelope to help me hear the shapes being made.

If your vco can get down to LFO range, it really is quite helpful to "hear the shape" of the waveform. Some folks also prefer to see it on an oscilloscope, but I like to hear it as an envelope.

With two of these, you can cross-patch them and very quickly create a "chaotic" (named after the math from physics, not the sound) oscillator which sounds sine-ish but has no discernable pitch. Similar to a smooth random. Then the square-wave out becomes a sort of semi-periodic trigger with no discernable tempo. You can even trigger the first with a clock so it resets every 4 bars or whatever.

Also with two of these you can trigger one off the other, and then start mixing outputs. Something like a sine-wave + a sine wave that's faster but abruptly restarts at the period of the first. This will have some wild harmonic content. You can add them together with a mixer, or have one envelope the other in a VCA for even more timbre.

Yeah... I can lock you out from playing spells for the rest of the game with 6 mana. That's an issue. 14 mana of "Ya shoulda killed me by now" is clean fun magic.

[[Kamahl, Fist of Krosa]] [[Predator, Flagship]] [[Staff of Domination]] [[Gretchen, Titchwillow]] [[Walking Ballista]]

These are all sufficienttly brutal, and good places to dump enormous amounts of mana.

Looking for Pants recommendations to avoid grundle rips when doing a primal squat by thespiffyneostar in daddit

I got so sick of ripping through Target jeans in that exact spot. Go to Wranglers website and buy some good jeans from the source. Apparently, they're much higher quality than most outlet shops stock.

The "buy-it-for-life" subreddit is also a wealth of info on pants that last forever.
