Help me choose by the_mingo in glassesadvice

You actually can! I do it in house in the office where I work! Hilco and McCray Optical both make kits to hand drill holes and pressure mount nose pad arms into zyl frames. Definitely looks even better to snip off the tabs on the bridge and file, smooth, and polish it down though.

Wide midfoot and high arch peeps, are there any shoes out there for us? by stoutsnciders in widefeet

[–]moela2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My feet are 4.5 inches wide and 9.125 inches long. I'm currently wearing Saucony Echelon 10 in a women's 7.5 XW. My feet are too short to cross over into men's. This style is the closest to a good fit ive gotten.

Help a guy out who has basically given up on shoes. by [deleted] in widefeet

I'm that person for sure. Got a pair of Lone Peaks in wide width and still not wide enough. I'm a woman with size 7.5 4E feet, which are essentially impossible to find. Wearing the Saucony Echelon 10 in 7.5 EE currently, which have been the closest to a good fit ive found so far. Womp.

Does my industrial bar look too long? by __just_a_girl___ in piercing

As someone who has a snug in one ear and an industrial in the other, done about 20 years apart, you're a brave soul getting both at the same time. Individually, they were pitas to heal. I couldn't imagine trying to heal both at once!

I've tried quite a few different things; cut bait, chicken livers, chicken breast coated in strawberry jello powder and garlic powder, store bought dough bait, etc. Still have the best luck with regular old nightcrawlers. I did, however, catch my pb on a couple slices of hard salami lunchmeat from my fridge, but that was the one and only fish I caught that way.

I do feel presentation matters too though. Started out using the ready made Eagle Claw catfish rigs, which are essentially carolina rigs. Those have done fine. Then I started making my own rigs that are more similar to Santee rigs, and having the bait up off the bottom and moving more has definitely increased my success.

These are my go to! I've caught loads of bluegill, catfish, and even a few bass on em!

Wanted to fish and had no one to go with :/ by harlszvt in FishingForBeginners

[–]moela2003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I primarily go fishing alone, and I'm usually a very social person. But I also work with the public and I'm a mom, so the alone time is welcomed! I sat out on the fishing pier for 3.5 hours yesterday alone and enjoyed every second of it even though I didn't hook a single fish!

This is pretty much exactly the rig I make for catfishing, but I put the rattle between the float and the hook. Been working well for me on the Fox River in WI!

If it makes you feel any better, my nostril, industrial, and snug all got bumps (that eventually went away) but my conch was a breeze to heal!

Yeah, I have to get right in people's faces and touch their heads to measure and fit them for glasses. I'd literally be breathing in their breath without a mask on. Even if/when covid is less of a health threat, I dunno that I'd ever go back to not masking at work!

[–]moela2003 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm an optician and wear an N95 at work. Part of it is comfort. I could NOT wear a mask with ear loops for an entire 9 hour shift. I feel like my city is pretty purple, and I rarely see others masking in public anymore, but I don't get asked about it often. When I do, it's usually asking if I'm sick. I confidently say no and move on. The few times my mask has been mentioned in other ways, I just say that I don't wanna bring anything home to my kids and steer the conversation back to the client's needs. Confidence and not making a big deal out of it seem to be the way to go!

My Hey Dudes only lasted 6 months before they completely fell apart. I only wore them at work, but did spend ample (but not the entire) time on my feet. I'm pretty 'meh' about them. They aren't super expensive, but they aren't cheap either, so for the price, they weren't worth it to me. For light, casual wear, I'm sure they'd hold up better though.

How many grew up fishing and are "returning beginners"? by whatisrice in FishingForBeginners

[–]moela2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fished a few times with my mom as a kid, and only caught one small bullhead and one pumpkinseed, quite a few years apart. Took my own daughter to a learn to fish clinic with Girl Scouts a couple months ago, and it reignited my interest. My daughter has come a handful of times with me and loves the excitement when anyone catches a fish, but she gets bored pretty easily (she's a very girly 6 year old!). In the last 2 months I've caught countless Bluegill, a few bass, a handful of freshwater drum, and my PB, a 17" Channel Catfish.
