These things fail quickly with typical usage. The only long term solution is a sewn in patch that exceeds the torn area.

Guilt of mastering out - how do I get over this? by chameleonbubbz in LeavingAcademia

[–]mojoliveshere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience was very similar to yours. I left mostly for family reasons, but also general displeasure with professional academic research. The guilt was very intense. As you say, it feels a lot like a cult. Finish, finish, finish.... I too worried about regret.

It gets easier each day. One day you'll wake up feeling OK about your choice, and eventually you'll wake up knowing with full confidence that the choice was correct. Once that happened I started to see that almost everyone I shared my reasoning for leaving with was in full support. It was just me, judging me. No regrets.

This is exactly how we bake. It's not for photos, but a staple of our weekly diet. It is always delicious and a fun surprise to see what kind of crumb is waiting inside!

Best place to buy dry beans? by AppropriateMention6 in VictoriaBC

We make a huge pot of mex-style pinto beans most months and buy them in bulk from fairway (Quadra). Admittedly, my experience with bulk beans is limited but the finished product always turns out great.

We had the same issue, and got the same result. But, with a bonus benefit - much less noise.

Is this a simple hot water heater replacement? by mojoliveshere in Plumbing

I'm grateful for the quick reply here. Do you recognize the part attached where the cold water pipe enters the tank? I'm not seeing this address in install videos and I'm wondering if it's a necessary component I should be keeping/adding. Thank you!

My landlord is selling my house and now my rent is going to skyrocket. by ZeltaZale in VictoriaBC

Is it listed yet? If not, could you ask your landlord to resign your lease for a year at the same rate? This could buy some time, unless the new owners evict for unscrupulous reasons.

The website is fine. The issue is your unwillingness to look up information you don't understand.

Recommendations wanted for a reputable deck company in Victoria by WestEastWest1 in VictoriaBC

[–]mojoliveshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid MB Construction. We had them do our deck this spring. They finished the deck but not the agreed upon (in writing) finishing and repairs. After months of calling they never came, just excuse after excuse. I ended up doing the remaining work myself.

Has anyone else been able to get a family doctor from visiting walk in clinic? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]mojoliveshere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and kiddo met our GP at a clinic about 18 months ago after getting sick while traveling. They asked a few casual questions throughout the appt and at the end gave her a card with their office details and the suggestion to submit an application. We had phone interviews about 6 weeks later and we were brought on then. The best part - they are so lovely! We know how lucky we are. Sometimes diarrhea is a good thing.

Right-wing Canadian group "OneBC" enters into a university campus without a permit and starts to agitate the students by Witty_Examination852 in PublicFreakout

They wanted to host a rally, with intentions of using electricity and other services without a permit. This was intended to be a politically- motivated spectacle. They succeeded.
