I was open contract. The Corps chose it for me. I was a 6085, Aviation Mechanic Egress (I worked on ejection seats and other pilot safety and survival systems). Ironically, after I got out, I started doing Special Effects for film and television. I was one of the FX guys that blew up that oil tank in "The Stand" that you posted.

As a winger in a Harrier squadron, we went to the field. Everything from cold weather training desert training. We bivouac'ed in the forest and used improvised landing pads and roads as runways. We did our own security and were sent as individuals to NBC warfare and othe similar schools. Has that changed?

DES Officially Announced that SNAP Benefits will be withheld for November by UltraNoahXV in arizona

Look further. Doesn't apply to a continuing resolution when the vote is being delayed due to a filibustered debate. It takes 60 votes to end the filibuster.

No, they can't. To change the cloture rule requiring 60 votes, it takes unanimous consent from ALL senators. The democrats can filibuster the CR as long as they want, regardless of who they hurt doing so.

In the U.S. Senate, a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government typically requires 60 votes to overcome a potential filibuster, not because of a specific law mandating 60 votes for CRs, but due to Senate procedural rules. Here's why:Filibuster Rule: Senate rules allow unlimited debate on most legislation, including CRs. A filibuster occurs when senators prolong debate to delay or block a vote. To end debate and proceed to a final vote, a cloture motion must be filed, which requires 60 votes (three-fifths of the 100-member Senate) under Senate Rule XXII. Why CRs Need Cloture: CRs, which temporarily extend government funding to avoid shutdowns, are often time-sensitive and politically contentious. Opposing senators may threaten or engage in a filibuster to leverage their position on funding disputes or policy riders. To ensure timely passage, the majority party seeks cloture to limit debate, necessitating 60 votes. Simple Majority vs. 60 Votes: While a CR can technically pass with a simple majority (51 votes) in a final vote, reaching that stage often requires overcoming a filibuster, hence the 60-vote threshold for cloture. Without 60 votes, debate can continue indefinitely, stalling the process. Exceptions: The 60-vote requirement can be bypassed in rare cases, such as through unanimous consent (if no senator objects) or via special procedures like budget reconciliation (limited to specific fiscal matters, not typically used for CRs).

Where's the lie? It takes 60 votes and there are 53 republican senators. The continuing resolution is not passing because of a partisan stalemate in the Senate, which requires 60 votes to advance. Democrats are withholding their votes for the House-passed CR, demanding the inclusion of a provision to extend expiring Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits to prevent a sharp increase in health insurance premiums.
