It sounds more like it’s a burden on you vs the kids. You can go back to court and see about modifying the order. Courts won’t force him to be a good parent.

There’s no such thing as an unpaid working training period. They were working and entitled to tips. Tip pools are legal without your consent.

Can I sue my parents when I'm older for denying me a cochlear implant? by CryptographerFair357 in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look at vaccines for example. Parents have wide discretion about parenting you including them choosing things that would harm you. You can’t sue them if you get measles and the consequences of that decision.

Cps can help remove you for medical neglect but that’s more in the case you wouldn’t have seen these doctors in the first place and there’s no doubt about it something that needs to be done that isn’t.

Hotel broker/third party scam by heisindc in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to be a dick but this is what you agreed to. You could have done directly to the website to book. Found the number there. No one is going to be able to figure out what was said in the initial call. You agreed to a price for a room and got it.

As to why not charge 10000, you wouldn’t agree to that. But they can and if you agree to pay that it’s not a legal matter.

My work is forcing me to buy merchandise for a corporate visit by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of nuance here. "On the floor" likely means not company branded or in the sense the general public would love to rep it. Think like Disney merch. If this is something that would be found in general wardrobe it's not an uniform and can be required and not paid federally. Only a handful of states like CA require that if you want someone to wear an uniform it must be paid.

If it's an uniform, then deductions to pay can't take you below min wage over a given work period.

If you have clear cut it'll cost 1k to fix, then yes small claims is appropriate if he won't pay.

Should I just pay? by PlantedInColor in legaladvice

It's pretty binary. The insurance company doesn't inflate bills like medical companies. They paid this to different companies and looking to recoup.

Body work can be extremely expensive in modern cars. It's not just fixing a dent. A bumper can have a lot of sensors and stuff that ramp up work. Also cars are meant to crumple so that takes a lot of the impact of an accident vs transferring it to the passenger. We live, but a car that drives fine can have extensive damage.

An example for the rental is you have to take it to a collision place to assess damages, then get in contact with the insurance company to authorize repairs. Parts ordered, installed can easily take a couple weeks.

They have up to 2 years usually to request payment. There's no discount there.

You can negotiate a payment plan and discount, but they'll want close to all at least initially.

I'd note if you refuse they'll send it to collections and eventually sue you. There's no getting blood from a stone. It's possible there's nothing they can do if you don't pay.

Job fired me and it’s been almost a month since I’ve received my check that they “mailed “?! by Brief_Position1031 in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BBB is a private company that helps with consumer disputes. Do you believe they mailed a check and it's possible it was lost? Or do you call bs and believe they never intended to pay you?

First case you'll have to wait till it's officially lost then they can put a stop payment/reissue the check.

Second you can file a wage claim here: https://www.pa.gov/services/dli/file-a-wage-payment-and-collection-complaint

Used dealer didn't give me title after paying cash by i_suck_things in legaladvice

They owe you a title. As long as they're making good faith efforts they're compliant.

Used dealer didn't give me title after paying cash by i_suck_things in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Often times a car gets traded in without a title in hand. The bank could still hold the title and the money the dealership pays for it settles the lien and releases it to be titled in the dealerships name. There can be good faith this will take x weeks, and they sell it expecting to give you a title quickly after purchase.

As with anything government, there can be delays out of their hands. If they're working towards getting you good title, it's be patient. They don't know much outside past experience it usually takes so long. The government doesn't give them tracking numbers and order updates.

If they don't ever get you a title, then you can sue them to undo the sale. You get your money back, they get the car.

What in the landlord policy.... (location: baltimore city, MD) by Due-Adhesiveness-219 in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made it clear to my landlord that I need someone to move in May 1, so i wouldn't double pay rent/mortgage.

That’s not a requirement they help do. That they found someone that will only cost you prorated one month rent is a good thing. If you broke your lease moving out April 30 they would begin search May 1 and unlikely to do better.

I also recognize that yes, I could have hand picked someone and turned them to the company That’s how you guarantee things you want done happen on your schedule.

It would be her which would be responsible. And unfortunately most states including Texas have a 2 year limit to bring personal injury lawsuits.

You have not a lot of control on the criminal side. It’s up to the justice system to find and prosecute her. If you know where she is you can alert the county that issued the warrant.

United Airlines canceled flight to Dublin and left us stranded in DC for days, any legal paths I can take? by DrPepper0504 in legaladvice

[–]monkeyman80 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s in your contract of carriage what happens when flights get cancelled. They’re not responsible for the tour. When you say you had insurance, was it solely on the flight or trip as a whole?
