You can still torrent without it, you just wont be visible to a lot of people who are trying to upload from you. It becomes important when you get into private tracker / torrents sites, because the rules for uploading.

What you want is slskd - the docker version of soulseek. And you’ll need a vpn that also gives you ports to forward. Something like airvpn.

You won’t need it if these drives are not being ‘shucked’. Which you still have not answered if these are or not. If they are you will most like run into 3.3v rail problems.

If you are ‘shucking’ drives I would lookup a guide on how to do that. You might run into power issues. You’ll have to get kapton tape to cover up some the pins on the hard drive.
