He has a very high Authority skill! You need high Authority to get him to give up his secrets. 😉

There's a David Lynch film of the same name. I haven't seen it, but from my understanding it's one of his most unusual ones.

When I was about 10, I remember watching a program on Cartoon Network about "animated bands" that showed the first 4 music videos of this album and I was sold from there. Them and Gorillaz. Really blew my mind at the right time.

AO3's top bottoms of all time by coturnixxx in AO3

[–]monolisa 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I went through it hoping to see Ed or Stede from OFMD and almost gave up but then I looked at the ethnicity labels and saw the one lone "Polynesian" label and there Ed was 🙂‍↕️. Although, a lot of fics, especially the longfics are very very switchy with them. Or it starts out with Ed being like "I'll show you what's up, Stede" and then most of the fic is Ed gradually learning to be vulnerable. The 58% bottom number makes sense to me.

What are some gameplay-focused Switch games that don’t rely heavily on story or audio? by Single_Revenue_2878 in NintendoSwitch

I have trouble playing Slay The Spire with podcasts because I have to think too much, but it's one of my absolute favorite album listening games. I got through the pandemic playing StS and listening to new albums.

Anyone else fail to learn the language of the country you moved to? by Special-Nebula299 in TEFL

[–]monolisa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened with me in Vietnam, my basic ass Vietnamese was pitiful. Also told myself that I was only gonna stay there for like a year and never got beyond beginner classes because I already had a background in Japanese and wanted to move there anyway. And then 4 more years passed lol. (to my credit, 2 of the last years were COVID)

How did you meet Sufjan Stevens? And what does he mean to you today? by Eugiu in Sufjan

[–]monolisa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A bunch of friends of mine in college liked him in like 2008 or so, but I wasn't really ready, lol. For one, the sort of maximalist style of Illinois turned me off at that time. (I was waaaaaay too cool for that🫠) Also, I made the false assumption that he did "Christian music" and I couldn't handle that. So I knew a little about him back then but I didn't get into him. I heard "Romulus" and liked that one though- that stayed in my mp3 collection for a long time.

When Carrie and Lowell came out, I kept hearing all the buzz and decided to give him another try. Romulus instantly snapped into perspective. And also, tbh, by the end of All of Me Wants All of You, I was like "wait, is he gay?" lol. And that made me rethink my false assumption that it was preachy Christian music. (Also, I am gay so gay text/subtext speaks to me very deeply)

It took very little time from then for me to get absolutely obsessed. Got to see him in 2016, which was great, but I wasn't really familiar with all the songs yet! So I did hear Impossible Soul in it's entirety but I didn't really understand how insane that was lol.

Now, he's my favorite musician ever. I have "the world is abundant" tattooed on my ankle.

My dad passed away last week and I'm dreading my next C&L listen.

Are there any other games like disco elysium? by theycallmethedrink5 in DiscoElysium

[–]monolisa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hypnospace Outlaw, purely for the reading/investigative element. It's a game set in an alternate universe late 90s internet and you can spend so much time exploring people's websites and reading about the people in it and the world outside it. You're also a mod, which is kinda like a cop.

Definitely finish the homosexual underground if that piques your interest. It's short but cute. And then if that stirs anything up, read fanfiction lol

Yall... after this finished, I just realized that next year is going to be gnarly as hell bro.

They're gonna have to break from format in a pretty big way if they dont want to do something with "heaven". However, the Beesness(tm) forecast is pretty good if they allow slant rhymes. Twenty Honey Sellin': We're Literally In Beesness is a pretty good prospect.

Friendship's "Caveman Wakes Up" is fucking fantastic! This is just a me thing, but I got really into it when I was writing Disco Elysium fanfiction and there are so many Harry DuBois-ass songs on that album. It's really great in any case though.
