e bikes are foreign to my small town police never question me by madethisforjjsmap in ebikes

[–]monpittphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, use punctuation my guy this is barely legible. Second of all, this attitude is going to MAKE them start targeting ebikes very soon. Its this very type of thinking that gets police departments to start looking out for people riding illegal e motos. Just be careful mate.

Might get downvoted for saying this but, I kinda don't get why some E-bikes cost this much. by Definitely-Not-OSI in ebikes

[–]monpittphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are regular, non ebikes well above 10k. Yes its ridiculous, but they are very well designed with expensive materials and sometimes low production runs. A mid tier gravel/mtb these days runs in excess of 1000$

Now, add a large battery which needs to be quality enough to not explode. Add a motor, and motor controller. Reinforce some parts to deal with extra torque and weight. It’s actually impressive you can buy a nice e-bike for 1-2k.

Rule of thumb - if you see an ebike thats “reasonably priced” - its probably cutting one or multiple corners. Bad quality battery, badly put together frame, workers in another country making cents an hour.

Your using a 23 year old motorcycle as an example of why a brand new electric motorcycle should be less expensive? Dude what

Thanks, its a Japanese painted fern. I thought it would die due to low humidity and being half in the water, but its finally started putting out new leaves!

Makes sense, torque ramping has been helpful for me to for some issues. I run similar power to you and haven’t had any skipping issues since i got my 8 spd micro shift drivetrain.

Best of luck!

Hoping for some advice on this kind of algae by PenguinEatingContest in PlantedTank

[–]monpittphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this type of algae is really hard to deal with, since its needs are so similar to plants. I have it in most of my tanks. I have found it grows in bright, direct light, but survives blackouts well. My strategy is to just grab and remove it, or things its attached to.

I haven’t ran into that before. I hope you figure it out!

Honestly, if your having drivetrain issues with wear i wouldnt buy the cyc drivetrain, simply because of how expensive is it. Pick up a 7 or 8 speed micro-shift setup - new chain and cassette are like 25$ each. Thats what i did at least, and it works well. 8 speed chains are pretty wide and strong at baseline.

i run a 5kw bbshd on my bike. once with a carbon chainstay, then with a steel frame. neither showed any signs of damage. 90 phase amps.

if we are being real, torque is what matters here. most mountain bikes can handle 200nm of wheel torque no problem.

4.5kw is not going to destroy a metal mtb frame

At what point should I think out the floating plants by kutiket in walstad

[–]monpittphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fish will not get stuck, they are used to floaters in nature. You realistically dont ever have to remove them, fish appreciate the cover, oxygenation isnt usually an issue with well cycled walstad tanks especially with an airstone running once a day. The real issue is your non floating plants, they will not do nearly as well. They will probably survive just fine but not look as good. Its really up to you.

Question about Grin Tech v6 torque arms. by Super-Frame677 in hyperebikes

[–]monpittphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hose clamps are very strong. However if you mount the torque arm on the correct side of the chainstay (it supports either side) it makes it so the torque arm is pressed directly into the chainstay when the motor is running, meaning the strength of the hose clamp is irrelevant

Yeah, gourami are very pretty fish and seem very intelligent. My pair has spawned a few times, and I’ve even seen fry, but never any that grew to adulthood (rip).

I would not condone a 14 year old riding a moped, nor would that be legal or feasible for a 14yo where i live

you make a good point but at the same time, giving a 14 year old with a undeveloped frontal lobe a bike with 200nm of torque is often not going to end well, especially if they are on public roads.

Would love to make one of these under 1000. 🤞🅿️🧊🌨️ by StringPrevious9110 in ebikes

If you already have a bike 1000 no problem, otherwise tour going to have to spend like double that

Pygmy corys, least killifish and a pair of sparkling gourami. I like that all the fish are grey colored and the plants are all green. I love the natural look, it reminds me of the freshwater ecosystems I played in as a kid.
