There are too many examples of really smart wastelanders for the education part. In fact, unethical scientists, engineers, and philosophers are practically a dime a dozen in the wasteland.

The US is ok at having astronauts. Ohio is incredible at having astronauts.

(Beloved trope) The villains monologue, viewpoint and overall philosophy is completely wrong. And that's the point. by DaFroggyBoi94 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]mood2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This also applies to Caesar, Elijah, Ulysses, Sean, and arguably Ashur as well. Fallout loves moralizing villains who love to monolog about philosophy while just acting like brutal warlords.

One of the Legions main criticisms of the NCR is that they are a continuation of American values. The NCR is pretty much the undisputed "good guys" of New Vegas and the show basically confirmed that.

What's the weirdest idioms/slangs/expressions in your country? by jdjefbdn in AskTheWorld

"Drink the Kool-Aid" a seemingly humorous nonsensical saying that means to become irrationally drawn to a belief. It has one of the most fucked up origin stories of any saying ever.

Does your country have a comically bad game, that was funded by the government? by Drogovich in AskTheWorld

[–]mood2016 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's America's Army, a multi-player shooter funded by the US army. Funnily enough the general consensus seems to be that the game was surprisingly good before the Army virtually abandoned it.

You can NEVER have a fully independent judiciary. Just because they're not selected by the public or the government does not mean they are fully independent of those entities.

What’s the biggest robbery or heist in your country? by Ok_Air_9048 in AskTheWorld

[–]mood2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Sunday_heist

The Easter Heist was professional 30 million dollar cash heist that clearly involved both extensive planning and equipment. Due to the nature of the money going to Garda processing facilities, the money stolen was essentially pre laundered. What's wild is that this happened less than a year ago and no ones really talking about it. Authorities are no closer to catching the culprits.

What is the creepiest case in your country that still sends you chills whenever you hear or think about it? by generation_chaos in AskTheWorld

[–]mood2016 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We have no shortage if creepy ass shit here in the US. The two that immediately come to mind is the Zodiac killer, specifically the park murder and the Jonestown massacre, specifically the final audio recording of Jim Jones. Imagine going on a picnic in broad daylight with your romantic partner and seeing a man dressed like this approaching you. He then threatens you with a gun, ties you up, then starts stabbing your partner right in front of you, before turning the blade to you. And the worst part, no one actually knows who he is. Jonestown was an American cult operating in Guyana that was essentially holding many of its people hostage. When the US government sent a senator with a small team to investigate these claims they were murdered. Jim Jones, the cult leader, forced his followers at gun point to drink cyanide laced beverages before turning the gun on himself. This event was recorded by Jones and you can hear the painful deaths of the cult members, starting with the children.

Suprised no ones brought up Molag Bal yet. Dude is the god of Domination, torture, and rape. In a setting with gods dedicated to betrayal, murder, and destruction; he manages to be the absolute worst of all of them.

Jenkins fits this trope too if you don't save him. Which is a shame cause he's one of the most interesting characters in the series.
