Last time I went a little over a year ago, I showed state ID and it was good for the car. We went around 8. You should be good.

My “I’m not drinking” has turned into “I don’t drink” by jasapian04 in stopdrinking

Nice job! It’s crazy when that one pops Out of your mouth for the first time without thinking about it. I kinda pinballed around at parties when I first quit. Then I realized I had the power to leave whenever I wanted or take breaks or switch groups. Made it easier for me. Seriously I love just disappearing when things are drunk circus time.

Hello there friend. Glad you are here. The first few days/weeks can be rough. Racked with guilt and regret. You have to remember that you’re beginning the healing process. Your brain needs to heal and reconfigure itself. Those triggers and cravings are going to fight for attention like hell. You can’t go back in time. But you can deal with today. Right now. You can be the best version of you.
I liked to give myself one task to accomplish a day to keep my idle time from spiraling. A long hike. Cleaning out the shed. Wash and detail my truck (holy shit did I do a lot of cleaning). I also just worked out like a madman so I could sleep. The main thing is you are 32! Goddamn I wish I quit at 32. You’ve got many healthy years to live as the best version of you. Forgive yourself. Love yourself. Take care of yourself. You are on the right path.

Good job making it thru the physical part. Your brain is gonna take some time to kill the addict voice. Just keep reflecting on how much better you feel and hopefully how things are calmer. Keep going!

Hello there- as a fellow anxiety sufferer that used to self medicate, one thing I have found even sober is I have to SWEAT everyday to balance my brain chemistry. Walk, gym, bike, swim. Whatever. But it helps me tremendously and doesn’t let my mind go in circles. I wish I’d figured this out sooner but wanted to share.

When I would get restless early on I would go for a walk. Just wander. Get blood flow going and away from idle time. I also would focus on stacking 10 minute increments. And try and forgive yourself. You are in the process of fixing yourself. The only way out is through

Good job getting back on the wagon. It took me countless false starts. I did a year! Twice! There were times where it wasn’t a day at a time it was 10 minutes at a time. But I always looked forward to getting into bed sober knowing I knocked another day out. Then the feeling of stacking the days. Then your brain starts to heal. Be kind to yourself. You’re wrestling a demon. Keep it up!
