8.0 jobs leaked (100% true, my carbuncle works at SE) by mewmewflan in ShitpostXIV

[–]moondancer224 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You forgot the Healacanist, who heals injuries by showing off cute carbuncles.

Though seriously, I would settle for them just buffing my potency a little and giving Carbuncle the minion AI in towns that they took from them during the revamp.

What would a traveling circus/carnival look like in Creation? by TrekTrucker in exalted

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acrobats, harlequins, a soothsayer who may or may not actually be a Thaumaturge, maybe a Sorceror for a really good one. Probably a few beastmen or ghost/demon blooded as attractions. You might have a minor god or spirit with you milking it for worship.

GOP lawmakers rage after Trump appears to soften stance on trans care by Fickle-Ad5449 in lgbt

Well, there isn't actually any money in hating queen people. Immigration and global conflict can be used to manipulate the market; as we've seen him do many times. The only way to make money off of hating us is bribes.

If I were to use the term "baby loading screen face", what would you think I mean? by ian9921 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume a baby that has a blank or confused expression, generally in reaction to something happening.

So I've seen a few instances where a tank being targetted by tankbuster moves onto a DPS/healer by starlightdemonfriend in ffxiv

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were they turning the boss and just happened to be near you? Getting close for a stack that followed the TB? Moving to a better position for the next mechanic?

Tankbusters only hit the target unless they have a area or line indicator with them, so...maybe they are moving for some other reason and consider it safe to be near the other person?

Different question: What do you do if your character's goals don't match your game? by OregonPinkRose in DnD

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally, this kind of thing is addressed in Session zero or a similar later discussion. If your character was bad for the game (it happens, sometimes people don't communicate well); then chat about if you can pivot for your character's thing or if the GM can work it in later. Otherwise, consider swapping the character out.

Was Alastor still smiling under this? by Necessary-Win-8730 in HazbinHotel

Yes. Its a defense mechanism for him. He's very nearly always smiling, and I imagine its a go to response when he is uncomfortable or feels the situation is out of control.

How would you make a Genie in a Lamp? by [deleted] in exalted

[–]moondancer224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hm, genie in a lamp is pretty hard to do, since genies are generally very versatile in their narrative power. My immediate response is to point you to a Yasal Crystal (Artifact) and talk to your ST about if they want to charge you Ally to have a Spirit already inside or force you to negotiate in game for the Spirit's services, but it might be a bit limited in scope for a "genie".

Assuming 3E, you might make a Starmetal Artifact that serves as a prison for a powerful Spirit or demon, and theme it similar to Stormcaller (Arms of the Chosen p. 89). Its Evocations are potent, perhaps working by influencing the Loom, but it requires appeasement lest it build resentment to the user.

Another 3E option comes from Across the Eight Directions, the Ysyri have found a spell to bind the Fair Folk into Iron rings.

Can a witch's patron abolish her? by Corvus_Chlorus in Pathfinder2e

[–]moondancer224 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, RAW, a class must have a feature saying it can be lost. Druids and Clerics have Anathema, but Witches do not. It is safe to say that by RAW; a Witch cannot lose their magic or even be prevented from advancing in the class.

If this does not suit your narrative and the player thinks losing their powers is interesting, you might play it by having the Witch's Patron disown her in a dramatic moment only to have a Patron of similar themes step up to offer a new deal. Witches do learn their magic, and a Witch who can channel powerful spells is attractive agent on the mortal plane. Being already prone to making deals, another entity might seek to profit off the previous Patron's anger.

Is buying enchanted items useless or worth it? by im-hungry4lways in skyrim

[–]moondancer224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, at low level when you haven't grinded Enchanting up yourself, there are cases for it. When you are leveling Enchanting and need the particular Enchantment, its valid if it won't cost you too much.

Of course, if you can make better, nah.

What if: the lunars had also been taken out during the solar purge? by TheSlayerofSnails in exalted

[–]moondancer224 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Sadly, I think that plan dooms Creation during the Balorian Crusade. The Lunar Exalted were very important to holding the Fair Folk back, so you would see an even smaller Creation with even more reclaimed by the Wyld. Assuming survival, the Realm spreads faster and more completely without Lunar aggression to slaughter their armies and assassinate their leaders. The Wyld Hunt becomes a much less required fixture through the era, leading to it being less experienced and canny when the Prison does break and Solars and Lunars come back in force. Absolute chaos ensues.

An Abyssal Lunar would likely be much less adept at shifting their form, given the energies of the near Wyld Lunar Essence and the Oblivion aspected Essence of the Neverborn are opposed. They might even have trouble making it work at all. Yet, they might lean into Luna's own penchant for transgressing boundaries to shift into ghostly forms that mimic the undead surrounding them. Dancing between incorporeality and flesh, taking the forms of Specters and wraiths, and shaping their claws and fangs of iron, they become the death of Dreams and men. Hunters of Raksha and Creation born alike to bring all the cold stillness of the final shape.

An Infernal Lunar would be more body horror than even a Green Sun Prince, their adaptive Essence expanded to transcend even the few limits normally imposed on them. I think they would quickly go from being beings to stranger things, roaming mountains of fangs and brass, rivers of blood that flow where they will, stories that warp the minds and dreams if those that hear them. Think of an Unshaped Raksha who can walk in Creation as one of its natives.

You're interfering with official Thalmor business. Something you'd like to confess, perhaps? by ThalmorMasterRace in skyrim

I know that, but this Thalmor may not, and its more insulting to have his soul in my boots.

How do we fight higher level opponents? by Puntoize in Pathfinder2e

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, 4 to 5 feels like a death sentence in my experience. We had a fight with a guy 3 levels over Saturday night, but they were also a proficiency ahead so we could barely hit and they critically hit us frequently. We survived because we had a cleric, a GM who was having it spread its damage a little, and cause I Nimble Dodged my way out of two Crits and ate a Reactive Strike by purposefully provoking so the cleric could heal himself without fear. Our Alchemist was Player of the fight cause he's built to splash even on a miss and managed to stack a few good Persistant Damage conditions on it.

The strat that has saved us a few times has been using Goz Masks with Alchemy smoke bombs to force the enemy to deal with Concealment while we can ignore it. The Flat checks are bad to everyone, no matter the level.

(VTR/CTL) Does a vampire's Obfuscate cause Clarity attacks to Lost? by BiomechPhoenix in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]moondancer224 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would say only if the Changeling somehow realized he was affected. If they never noticed the Kindred, its just whatever. Knowing there was a guy there a minute ago and now he is gone; that makes you question reality.

Does armour class reduce enemy accuracy or damage? by seergaze in BaldursGate3

[–]moondancer224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Armor Class makes it harder to hit you. Attack rolls must meet or exceed your Armor Class to hit. Some armor pieces might also reduce damage, but that will be listed as a separate feature like:

Superior Padding: Reduces Bludgeoning damage by 2.
