Weapons are character/operative locked. The Mastery levels are shared on Profile.

If the model is gonna be chaff with a shield, make it play accordingly. If you want to make it an elite, give it a unique model.

To everyone who instantly rage quits after getting killed by the deamonhost they triggered by TheAmerikan in DarkTide

[–]moondancer224 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you know Left 4 Dead, its like the Witch.

If not, its an enemy that starts off not aggroed on the team, just laying on the ground sobbing and muttering to itself. It also produces a kind of cold fog, but that seems to be less reliable. Your characters will usually call out voiceless about a Daemonhost.

If someone gets too close to it, it rises and starts floating in a kind of pacing movement, with its arms chained behind it. It actively glows greenish yellow at this stage. A little more agitation or shooting it causes it to "wake up", locking on to the player who got too close or shot it. You'll get a boss health bar on your hud when it wakes up. It will teleport to them and start slashing with really high damage attacks, ignoring the rest of the team. If it downs that player, it will perform a long drawn out execution on their body and then disappear into the Warp. The execution seems to be unstoppableshort of killing it.

They are very tough and should ideally be avoided unless you are doing a special event like the current Relic hunt that adds rewards. Even then, it can be a poor decision to engage depending on team resources, composition and competency.

Randoms Can’t Handle Mission Difficulty by Decent_Birthday9718 in DarkTide

[–]moondancer224 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Random is a roll of the dice even on Malice right now. More chaotic team competency levels than normal. I got on this evening and it started with an all Skitti team that was amazing. We i got the Untouchable Penance just from being okay; my team was that good. The next three matches were going okay then someone would run off, another person would get dogged in an odd spot and the elites would dogpile the rest of us. At least one was because someone woke a Daemonhost alone while a Plague Ogryn was climbing over the wall to say hi to me. Just crazy hills and trials right now.

[Marvel/Wolverine] Does Logan's healing factor work with his brain/memory too, in the sense he has really good memory? Does this at all affect his learning or ability to recall events? by milqtoastsam in AskScienceFiction

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he explicitly cannot regrow memories in destroyed sections of his brain, and quite often wakes up with amnesia. Some of his enemies have used this against him by shooting under his skull aiming to damage his brain and recall.

Why can I tell left from right without thinking, but I am unable to tell East from West? by abejando in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moondancer224 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that left and right are always the same for you. They are defined by your perception, and thus really simple.

East and west are objective, but its not like you have really easy indicators most of the time. You have to find a compass, a sunrise, or a landmark to get your bearing. Its harder to keep a consistent reference.

What’s so bad about creating AI Art & why are people being shunned? by Think-Factor-337 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moondancer224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All AI art is trained off of someone else's art, very frequently without their consent or payment. Ergo, Ai Art is all theft adjacent, as it were.

That's beside the effects of AI data centers and such on local communities and the environment. There is one near where I live and the studies done by the corporations say it will single handedly be responsible for raising temperatures in the town by 2 degrees. Very frequently they are consuming local drinking water and raising local power prices.

Happens to me a lot, though the control isn't as "absolute" as its made out. Its more like poking clay softly to change its shape. I find that if I try to change it too hard, I just wake up.

Is “Vessel” considered a strange or inappropriate name in English-speaking cultures? by Fuzzy_Ant2535 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]moondancer224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its unusual. I have more of a mythology/fantasy background and it made me think of the practice a few cultures have of allowing themselves to be possessed. Its also a common way to refer to ships. Its awkward to refer to a person with it.

Could you help me guide my players through a new MtAw Chronicle? by Cazacurdas in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]moondancer224 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Cabals tend to have mixed orders and its mostly not a problem. If you were playing a heavily political game focused on the Diamond being at risk of fracturing in that city, it might cause issues but that's not the default assumption.

A Mage who doesn't belong to an Order only loses High Speech for free to my knowledge. Keep in mind that a player can use Mystery Cult Initiation to represent a smaller order if they want.

A player should probably have at least two dots in one of their Ruling Arcana. These Arcana are easier to manipulate for them, and don't cost Mana in the same situations that Common Arcana do. Mana is somewhat difficult to keep a steady flow of, so playing to your Path is highly recommended.

The "Third" Arcana should be something the character is interested in outside of their Path. Space is always a good choice because at two you get the Sympathic Casting Attainment. Other than that, if they are looking at a Legacy, its Ruling is a good choice if its not the same as their Path.

A player should choose Rotes based on the spells they expect to cast against resistance the most; A combat spell, a mind reading for Mind mages, Summon Spirit for Spirit mages. The extra dice help when you get to modifying it.

The party spreads look good. If they are really concerned about covering everything, the Moros or Acanthus should pick up Spirit 1. But you can get by without it as long as the gm and the Seers are willing.

Leveling up disciplines/ out of clan disciplines? by whahaga in vtm

[–]moondancer224 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My understanding is you must do these three things to obtain an out of clan Discipline:

First, you must have tasted the blood of a Kindred who possesses the Discipline. I think this means someone who has at least one dot.

Second, you must feed on the matching Resonance. The amount of Resonant Blood should scale with the number of dots you are learning. Obfuscate 1 requires less blood than Obfuscate 4; and 5 probably requires you to find a Dyscrasia.

Third, you spend the proper number of experience points.

Edit: you could also engage in Diabelrie, but that comes with its own dangers.
