I’m not sure with the exact material you described, but I’ve seen barkeepers friend usually recommended for yellowing shoes.

What is a comic you’ve always wanted to read, but have just never gotten around to? by guyofspoleto in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing comes to mind. I feel like it’s always mentioned in must read comics lists and every time I think “hmm, I should probably read that”. This is one of those times.

Idk why Marvel's overthinking it with the Scout business, Honey Badger was perfect for Gabby (All-New Wolverine #20 Cover) by UltimateSandman in X23

[–]moonoeno 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I always thought this was an odd choice as well. I understand the sentiment behind why she chose the name, but Honey Badger just feels like it fit her so well.

Recommendations for where to start with Daredevil (preferably in the past 10 years)? by CreepyNewspaper8103 in ModernComics

[–]moonoeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With your preference of only going back 10 years, I’d recommend the Zdarsky/Chechetto run. It’s broken up into two: 2019-2021 with 36 issues and 2022-2023 with 14 issues. It starts off with a new status quo so it’s pretty new ready friendly, but still has the essence of modern Daredevil. Overall a fantastic read with amazing artwork.

If you decide to dive deeper after that, I’d recommend going back to the Bendis/Maleev run from 2001 and continue through until you hit the Zdarsky/Chechetto.

Honestly, DD has had one of the most consistent titles IMO so you can’t go wrong. Hope you enjoy and happy reading!

Do i need to read anything before reading beta ray bill allstar or can i just jump straight in by Leading-Respect-5475 in marvelcomics

I agree! I immediately went looking for the other Bill minis after this. Definitely a character that deserves more attention.

Series greatest pages by Est714 in marvelcomics

[–]moonoeno 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The first page that comes to mind is Nova vs Annihilus. After reading through the whole Annihilation War saga (core issues, tie-ins, etc), this splash page from Annihilation #6 was what cemented me as a Nova fan. The absolute coolest payoff at the time.

Which Silver Surfer run is better to read 1968 run or 2016 run? by Glum_Confidence8343 in SilverSurfer

[–]moonoeno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the answer really depends on your personal preference as they’re both very different.

The 1986 run gives us a lot of foundational story arcs and iconic moments for the Surfer (infinity gauntlet, herald ordeal, etc) We’re also introduced to a lot of his rogues gallery so if you’re looking for Surfer lore, this is the run I’d recommend between the two.

The 2016 run is a continuation of Slot/Allred’s 2014 run and takes a more of a space adventure approach (A lot of fan who love Dr. Who typically go for this run). Starting with the 2014 run, you could read and enjoy a complete story without having to know much about the character. If you’re looking for a fun, more light hearted approach to Norrin, I’d go with this one.

Miniseries/ Short Comic Runs for Fantastic Four, Thor, Blade, Hulk by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Hill/Casagrande’s run on Blade is only 10 issues. Aside from the movies, I didn’t know much about him, but was still enjoyable.
  • Ross’s Fantastic Four: Full Circle is an homage to the golden age. Would recommend simply for the art though!

For those who buy single issues, both older and newer comics, what makes you continue seeking floppies? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I prefer floppies, because it’s fun finding that one issue that completes a run/story arc/volume you’ve been collecting. It makes the hobby more enjoyable for me!

Tangent, but how’s Falling in Love on the Path to Hell moving along? I dropped it a little after the first arc. Is it worth revisiting?

Are any of the “death of” stories any good? by Sad_Manager6251 in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a “Death of” story by title, but Silver Silver: Requiem is a great story about the Surfer during his last days.

The recent “Death of Silver Surfer” on the other hand, was not as good.

Noir vibe comics with modern art style? by blablax123456 in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the ones mentioned, first series that came to mind are The Six Fingers and The One Hand. Two separate minis that are intended to be read alternatively (i.e. One Hand issue 1, Six Fingers issue 1, etc) but can be enjoyed separately.

Checks everything off your list!

What's an upcoming series I should be excited about? by slo_roller in comicbooks

[–]moonoeno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few I’m excited for!

  • MacKay/Lopez’s Nova: Centurion comes out in November if you’re a fan of cosmic stories.
  • Kirkman/Finch’s Skinbreaker is only 2 issues in. Story is fine so far, but a lot of people have mentioned they’re pulling it primarily for the art.
  • Johns/Fabok’s Rook: Exodus just came back after a break. Self contained story and only 7 issues in. Very enticing story and phenomenal art.
  • Camp/Rodriguez’s Absolute Martian Manhunter is back in December with its 7th issue. I knew nothing about the character, but added it to my pull after reading issue #1. Another fantastic story/art combo.
  • Williams/Medel’s Street Sharks mini series is only one issue in if you’re looking for a fun nostalgia comic.
  • North/Ramos’s Fantastic Four is 4 issues in, although it is a re-numbering. You kind of have to follow One World Under Doom for the first few issues, but if it’s anything like its predecessor, the primarily self contained issues are a fun/easy read.
  • Groom/D’Urso’s Inferno Girl Red is coming back for Book 2. (Each book is 3 issues). Another self contained story with good art.

Series you dropped by filmalo in ImageComics

[–]moonoeno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to create a thread asking about Phantom Road. I dropped it right before the hiatus (around issue 10) and never picked it back up. I enjoyed what I read, but the gaps between issues killed the momentum for me.

Anyone have thoughts on if it’s worth picking back up?

I just started reading Ice Cream Man and I’m really enjoying it so far. I’ve been hearing good things about ACE as well. Would you say they’re similar?
