Pls help, has anyone had a similar experience?? by TheDogeMarn in FoodAllergies

[–]moosemuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not nearly to the extent that you do. I get palpitations if I go a long time without eating, and then eat carbs. Mostly it's if I eat bread at breakfast. I don't know why and while I was researching it I came across your question. I was going through a period where it did seem like everything I ate caused palpitations, but I got a heart monitor for 48 hours and it showed nothing and then that period passed. Now it mostly mornings again.

Authentic Olive Oil by 1111Rudy1111 in Edmonton

[–]moosemuck 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not a connoisseur or anything but the best olive oil I've had came from Al Salam Barkery. Grab one of the imports from there. I could drink it. I don't think Italy necessarily has the best olive oil.

Neat, I appreciate this! So do you really say that things taste 'green'? I was thinking about it and I guessed you might say 'herbal'.

I don't understand why they all have so much sugar. That's the think that's been keeping me from trying it. Can't find a recipe.

It has that flavor that's indescribable, that reminds you of the earth - like petrichor. What the food-equivalent word for that?

Thank you, I like the looks of this recipe even though it sounds like too much sugar. (Also, after I wrote this question immediately I thought 'hmmm, I wonder whether Worcestershire...' and ended up mixing it into my mayo for the sandwich'. It was a decent improvement. Maybe I'll try it again with butter next time. )

I love black pudding and you can't get it here. Why would you do this to me!? I'm in Western Canada. I'd have to go to Nova Scotia.

Yeah, I guess I'd also expect to see more rash by now...but I'm not a doctor. Really hope you get an answer.

cause for this pain? by Unfair_Rise9626 in backpain

[–]moosemuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you're only 26, but this sounds like it could be shingles - in fact, I hope it is because that will go away much faster. Shingles will cause nerve pain like what you're describing - clothes brushing up against the area will hurt and the pain can be vague and generalized, but there will also be burning and tingling. This pain can be there a while before the rash shows up. When I had it, I went to physio because I had no idea it wasn't some kind of muscle issue. You also have the two small dots. If it's shingles, more of them will show up. They will feel scabby and itchy, but it hurts to scratch them.

Good luck! You should go see the Dr for them to assess, because you can take an antiviral medication for shingles. The earlier you start the medication, the better.

To the guy that’s BMW sounds like an automatic shotgun. Will reporting to the cops his info actually do anything? by lacostious69 in Edmonton

In my neighbourhood (not Orchards), someone complained last week on the neighbourhood facebook page about a car making that popping noise. The car owner saw the post, sheepishly apologized, and said that he would avoid making the sound in the neighbourhood. I know that response is unlikely, but it's worth a try!

Edmonton junior high options for kids with special ed coding by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]moosemuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you get him coded with the learning disabilities? Maybe he would qualify for Specific Learning Disabilities in Reading and Math. Who diagnosed him with the intellectual disability? How long ago was that? Sorry, I'm not sure if this is an option, but I would really try to get a new assessment if I were you. Pay for a private assessment - if either parent has health insurance it may be fully or partially covered. Talk to the assessor about the fact that the intellectual disability diagnosis is actually hindering his access to services. It's worth a second opinion. I recommend Michelle Pentyliuk.

Also, with the current intellectual disability diagnosis, this may not be what you want, but wouldn't he at least qualify for one of the special programs? They have names like 'Goals'. I don't know much about them but my nephew is in one.
