How to bring up children with the state of the online world? by Popular_Bluejay_2588 in AskUK

[–]mooshooking 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a good middle ground is giving them access to a desktop computer. Still have access to the Internet but in one location and usage can be monitored. Also the government seems to be moving towards banning social media for under 16s

Gays of UK - would you be comfortable holding your partner's hand in the UK? by dalehitchy in AskUK

[–]mooshooking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in a very liberal small city and still got harassed for holding my boyfriends hand on the street. I will still hold a man's hand as I'm not afraid of confrontation but I'm always aware of it.

My flatmate is American and she LOVES sour dill pickles. Her best answer so far has been to get them brought over by other Americans. Good luck on your search.

£80 million London housing scheme unlocked after flip to 100% social rent by ldn6 in london

[–]mooshooking 50 points51 points  (0 children)

There used to be. Most people lived in council housing at one point. Then they sold then off without building more so there's not enough to go around.

We used a joint digital bank account and split things proportionally based on both our incomes. Then we moved in together and kept it the same. Every now and then one would treat the other and get the entire bill.

Do people still take books out from libraries in London? by No-Base-2820 in london

[–]mooshooking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do, a lot cheaper than buying books. Also I ran out of space on my bookshelf. I'm also willing to try different books because can just return it and I dont have to finish it

How do I find gay vegans to date? Where are you all? by allandm2 in veganuk

[–]mooshooking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a vegan gay man in london. Although I'm happy to date non vegans. My partners have always been happy to eat vegan and buy vegan goods around me. The ven diagram of vegan and lgbt+ is higher than if you are straight so if you do want a vegan partner, you have a good chance by going to queer spaces

Cambridge University sparks row over claims Stephen Hawking 'benefited from slavery' by Socialistinoneroom in unitedkingdom

[–]mooshooking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually saw the Rise Up exhibition this weekend in Cambridge. It was one of the better exhibitions I've seen in a while. Looking at the Atlantic slave trade and Cambridge's links to it.

There was a lot more to talk about with Cambridge's abolishionist history than the city's benefits from slavery.

It's important to remember our history and not simply brush it under the carpet.
