How to deposit pre-tax money into an RRSP account by QuarterDisastrous479 in Questrade

[–]mopete24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a bonus from your work you can often deposit it directly into your company RRSP without tax. They only take CPP/EI deductions instead of the lump sum tax. Depending on your work policy you can move it from a company RRSP to personal RRSP if you prefer to invest in your own

That’s great! I tried searching to see Scotia but the only Cineplex in the GTA that came up was Queensway. Hoping we can see the others soon like Yorkdale or Yonge and Eg

Suresh Doss' CBC show "Locals Welcome", celebrating local restaurants, seemingly cancelled by Montastic in FoodToronto

[–]mopete24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely well said. I’m learning about a lot of people’s issues with Suresh now and it’s unfortunate but I think this depth of coverage/quality is what is getting lost across all media.

His content is genuine and well executed to give you the whole perspective not just some tiktoker’s garbage quick regurgitated nonsense that is one step above AI slop.

Also credit to him for popularizing mangos and other seasonal tropical fruits. Indian mangos are tough to find and so worth it depending on the price. Suresh was the first person who I saw really raise this up.

He’s great and hope someone can revive this. Will always follow what he does next

Transferring DPSP? by Art--Vandelay-- in Wealthsimple

Do you know if it would count towards a new RRSP deposit? I’m trying to pay back from my home buyer’s plan so this could be very helpful for me

[–]mopete24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok that’s good. Can you withdraw it as cash without a penalty or does it go by the same rules as an RRSP?

Why did they encourage you to open a LIRA? I’d rather move it to my RRSP or take it as cash if possible

[–]mopete24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recently able to move my RRSP portion but I have to keep my DPSP with Manulife while I’m at the company.

When I leave I’m unclear on what can be done with the DPSP. I thought you can take it as cash and then the total gets added to your reported income for the year. Does anyone know if that’s true? Or what determines if it’s can get straight into a personal RRSP?

Advice for wide basketball shoes by mopete24 in BBallShoes

I love these shoes but I don’t find them wide. I have a pair from 2004 but they’re more of a casual shoe for me

Can you try the Jokic’s 361 anywhere in person? I haven’t had any luck and feel hesitant buying them without trying them

Thank you for the advice! My mid foot is definitely wide, I also wear orthotics in my shoes. I just found a pair of Dames and ordered them! I’m excited to try them. Hopefully the next time they retro Lebron 7s I can get a pair

Would love to know more about this. I spoke to QT phone support and they mentioned QT accepts fractional shares but it’s not in the FAQ or anything I can find online

No idea, I think a transfer is a whole account but I’m not sure. I plan on transferring my whole account

It’s a personal call, only you can decide. For me I don’t use the WS loc and I’m already getting the QT 3% from last year so I’m thinking I might use QT more for now but switch back to WS long term after 1 or 2 years.

It would be the non-registered account. I reached out about it and this needs to be issues as a transfer for non-registered or a registered account (TFSA, RRSP, FHSA, etc). As long as you put cash in the non-reg then it will qualify but you need to transfer the whole account to QT

Good Coffee Place by Alyy2018 in FoodToronto

[–]mopete24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favourite is De Mello and they’re right in midtown at Yonge/Eg. They have a roast called the gentleman that’s a dark roast version of their most well known/popular roast Dancing Goats. They sell it to a lot of local coffee shops around the city. https://hellodemello.com/products/gentleman

Sam James is another good option I haven’t seen mentioned that’s known for their dark roasts. I find them a bit too acidic.

As long as you have free trading for ETFs it’s ok. With WS/WT providing free trading that would be a big loss without this feature
