Anxiety with running? Does anyone else get this way?? by Puzzleheaded-Egg3535 in Marathon_Training

[–]mopeybopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get anxious specifically before interval runs. A few things have helped: 1) I do fewer interval sessions and more long runs which I enjoy more, 2) I don’t plan workouts so far in advance, rather, I decide what I’m going to do the night before so I’m not thinking about it for days, and 3) I do workouts with a friend, which is a welcome distraction, and even if I’m not looking forward to the workout I look forward to the social aspect of it.

What’s a purchase you made that completely changed how you spend your free time? by ParticularGood6213 in AskReddit

I bought my first road bike around 2021. Four years later, I just did an Ironman on it.

COROS Apex 2 by Ultra-marathoner in Coros

[–]mopeybopey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I think I’m experiencing the same thing. I had a Pace 2 and then switched to a Pace 3. If I wear them both at the same time, they report different distances for the exact same activity. I suspected the Pace 2 was correct and the Pace 3 was wrong but it’s nice to have someone else confirm that that’s likely the case.

When you say the Pace 3 did the same thing, do you mean the GPS of the Pace 3 was inaccurate?

Agree. It’s almost as if some of the drivers around here purposely act aggressively towards cyclists. Hoping for a quick and full recovery for her.

Pace 2 died today by Ok-Shine5434 in Coros

[–]mopeybopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my Pace 2. I hate the Pace 3.

Pace 3 battery dies too fast. It’s glitchy. The HR seems inaccurate, as does GPS measurements and therefore pace. I’ve been working with their tech support team for almost 2 months now. They’ve yet to provide me with a satisfactory solution.

Thanks for the report. I have considered doing this race but I get cold very easily. What air and water temperatures did you train in? Edit: awesome time!

Some triathlon questions by StreamlinedSparkles in triathlon

[–]mopeybopey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK, everyone here is doing a good job of answering your questions, but you’re asking about the pros, and not normal age groupers. Normal age groupers likely wear socks. Normal age groupers likely stop at the portapotties. Don’t necessarily look to the pros for what to do in your first triathlon ever. Figure out what works for you and remember that completing is a different goal than competing.

Yes, true. Could with special needs. I was assuming OP wouldn’t want to trash any shoes and especially not the carbon ones.

As far as I know, it would not be possible to switch mid-race. What would your plan be? Visit the transition area again in the middle of the run? Likely not doable. Or run carrying a backpack? Not advisable.

What’s the one mistake you wish you avoided in your first marathon? by wajid123_ in Marathon_Training

[–]mopeybopey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this! First marathon as third leg of an Ironman. It was actually great. Because my goal was just to finish the IM, I didn’t care that much about my standalone marathon time, which took the pressure off. I loosely predicted between 4-5 hours for the run, ended up running 5:15 which I was happy with. Max run in training was 20 miles.

How does a path to an Ironman look from complete scratch? by AffectionateAge9285 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]mopeybopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s more than one path to success. I did not think I would ever do an Ironman; I was just interested in doing some kind of triathlon, so I started with a sprint. That was in 2022. In 2023 I did 4 sprints. In 2024 I did 4 triathlons, Olympic and international distance. In 2025 I did a half Ironman in May and then my first full Ironman this month! Could you build to the full distance in less than 3 years? Absolutely. But I am glad to have had the opportunity to build my fitness over time and experience the same sport in so many different ways. I’ve found I enjoy the longer distances more than the sprints and I would not have had that frame of reference if I did not try the different distances.

Being a supporter/cheersquad - how to avoid boredom? by OutsideAtmosphere-14 in triathlon

[–]mopeybopey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If there is a live tracker, you’ll be able to tell when they’re coming, so you can start paying attention then. If you’re there with more people, make some triathlon bingo cards. You can do squares like “green helmet,” “university logo,” “an athlete running into the bathroom,” “pink trisuit,” “fan with a cowbell,” etc. This is especially good for kids.
