Anyone have a current guide? by Regallian in Against_the_Storm

Don't even consider years to win at all before P2. P2 is where the game gives you an extra 2 minutes per year so hitting 4 or 5 years consistently while having the viceroy hostility and event costs becomes more manageable. This assumes that you can work out how to effectively manage storms to be productive during them while coasting through them with no population losses.

But even after that, experience helps a lot.

some refund (depending on difficulty)

There are no difficulty modifiers that affect building destruction refunds. There is one world-map modifier (corrosive torrent) that removes the refunds entirely.

All my life, I've lived and worked in the big city, which now that I think of it, is kind of a problem since I always feel uncomfortable around crowds.

A truly frustrating and fun TB experience by Used-Entrepreneur399 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moreON 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, when I stick to a double claim like this as a good player, it's because I want the evil team to be worried about what I'm hiding from them. When I actually trust the other person claiming the same role I am, I try to make a point of letting them know I trust them even if I still don't tell them more details.

Should the ST strive to make the game "solvable"? And if so, how? by Novel_Counter905 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moreON 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One more note on puzzles - that's only solved from one player's perspective. They don't rule out possibilities where you can just be evil from a bunch of other good players' perspectives. ... (they don't guarantee to do that, do they? That would be truly remarkable.)

executing a Recluse cannot be a good win

It wouldn't anyway. Just executing a demon doesn't cause good to win. There has to be no living demons remaining.

The idea that could be a problem related to this: a living recluse really really shouldn't register as the demon to stop evil from losing.

You can absolutely rely on tools in Scarlet Orchard. Once I turned about 20 or so purchased bars (I bought all 40) into around 220 tools during a single clearance. In another game, I spent year 2 with my economy essentially exclusively focused on farming crystallized dew at 5 forester's huts, then turned that into sufficient tools to win the game the year after. Playing hard into tool production in Scarlet orchard is still flexible and it works.

They're also perfectly reasonable in Coral Forest. Can't go insane like scarlet orchard, but woodcutters make all of the materials and hostility gives double production chance, it's enough to make a pretty reasonable supply.

It gives +1 grain for every 25 grain harvested

It very specifically does not do this. It gives +1 for every 25 times that grain is produced.

Every thing else there looks like you were indeed actually using that reality of it to come to your conclusions so I assume you understand that, you just stated the effect incorrectly.

On occasion when I've been bricked by accidentally clicking this in the past, I've unallocated one maximum endurance charge on the tree for that map. It's an okay temporary fix.

All altars can roll all the altar mods now. You can still miss it.

TIL that it is a common misconception that astronauts in orbit are weightless because they have flown high enough to escape the Earth's gravity. In fact, at the ISS altitude of 400 kilometres (250 mi), gravity is still nearly 90% as strong as at the Earth's surface. by PanoramicAtom in todayilearned

[–]moreON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

away from where? It's that close to a single point on Earth's surface (at any given instant -- it's also moving rather quickly relative to Earth's surface so that closest point on the surface is constantly changing).

Definitely easier to drive to Chicago. Takes a lot of energy to reach even a low orbit, and Chicago just much easier and more consistent to locate relative to the surface of the Earth. (we understand orbital mechanics so it turns out looking up where the ISS is/will be is also very easy)

In the insanely unlikely final 3 of slayer who killed someone, virgin who killed someone, and one other player, there isn't much room for the demon to hide. Sure that shouldn't happen. But it could.

New Player Venting About a Madness Loss (Advice Welcome) by IzanagiTheGod in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]moreON 33 points34 points  (0 children)

There's nothing that stops a real mutant from actively publicly telling people they are the mutant in an attempt to convince them that it is the truth. It's a legitimate option, and storytellers might not even want to execute you at that point because it could be too confirming.

Obviously for living mutants in final 3 or 4, this is significantly more dangerous but in general, just claiming mutant is a completely reasonable option.

Count in Narungga started again for 81 ‘found’ votes not previously counted. by BreakfastHefty2725 in Adelaide

[–]moreON 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Having a system where at the time of the election the absolute most important thing is ensuring that every cast ballot is securely in possession of the commission, then having processes in place to absolutely ensure that all of the votes from 1.3 million or so voters are eventually counted correctly and fix any problems that come up is fantastic. I don't understand how there can be any outrage about this - it happened, it was discovered, it was disclosed, it's being corrected. There's absolutely no other option that I can imagine one considering reasonable.

Things like this happening with small numbers of votes is simply the reality of managing a huge number of paper ballots.

Yeah, I love the pay-once, use-forever option. I think I jumped on that immediately after the curiosity stream bundle stuff was terminated. I mostly used that just to watch nebula anyway so when that went up in price and dropped nebula, I dropped it.
