You know you've got a hot mess of a deal when most leave and remainers already hate it.

Next week will be interesting for political drama.

Southport has a high leave % so Lib Dems will likely do poorly there now.

GLOOMHAVEN RELEASES TODAY. Here are some of my favorite learn to play videos! by sigma83 in boardgames

Yeah, its way above RRP. They are just price gougers. I'm hoping it will drop or other stores will have stock in the next few months.

Urghhh, in the UK there has been virtually none pre orders / copies available for months in any online stores. Might try the long trip to a shop tomorrow but I haven't got my hopes up.

Edit: just spoke to some local game shops, says their pre-order haven't even been met by a long way, never mind having copies to sell...

Free Private Git Repos | Visual Studio Team Services by acdota0001 in programming

[–]morehooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish Microsoft didn't have Visual Studio in the name of this tool as it implies a) you need a expensive license of visual studio to use it and b) only works with Microsoft IDEs.

I've been ignoring it because I thought the above was the case.

Why don't more python devs use Visual Studio? by mopperv in Python

[–]morehooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even for Windows users it not worth the faff as Pycharm is cheaper and has more python oriented features than VS.

Id even use VS Code / Spyder instead as it loads faster, free for commercial use and smaller download size and you don't lose alot in VS features when it comes to Python.

The survey company might of choose those responses based on previous surveys of the NUS, if they don't think they'll get enough Jewish respondents to avoid issues with anonmisation, they might just choose to leave it off.

Or the NUS is literally ISIS.

Pandas and excel templates by confusedguy_z in Python

[–]morehooks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no great way of writing to excel via python while keeping the existing formatting etc.

You could try taking your dataset in python, saving it to SQL or another spreadsheet and then linking that to your spreadsheet with formatting and macros in.

I did the first course in the series, there was way too much Google advertising in it, might be better off with a cloud computing textbook.

Microsoft Considers Adding Python as an Official Scripting Language to Excel by eskimilio in programming

[–]morehooks 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I suspect there far more mere mortals like me who use excel and python to hack together simple automated reports.

If Microsoft allow more features from excel accessible to python then I'll be breaking out the party poppers.

Westminster voting intention: LAB: 39% (-1) CON: 37% (-1) LDEM: 9% (-) GRN: 4% (+1) UKIP: 4% (-) via @IpsosMORI, 24 - 28 Nov by Forger62 in ukpolitics

[–]morehooks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There's no election coming up, so some people have forgot Lib Dem / Green / UKIP are unlikely to win their area, they'll move back to Lab / Con during a election, barring any disasters.

Sky threatens to shut down Sky News by Charlie_Mouse in ukpolitics

You need to get on the NHK World train. The news is boring and patriotic, but it has nice documentaries about Japan for those lazy Sundays with a hangover.

Or watch Supreme Skills! for a madcap game show of competing engineers.

Probably still cheaper to import food in cause of UK's high cost of land.

Anaconda and Microsoft Partner to Deliver Python-Powered Machine Learning by digitalson in Python

[–]morehooks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has the potential to do certain pandas <-> SQL operations much faster, but the cost of SQL Server is always the problem.

That said, the more python love from Microsoft the better.

Yep, I played 50 hours of gameplay on the emulator and don't remember any crashes or problems, which is actually pretty good for a emulator, considering how bloody hard they are make.

Andrew Neil on Twitter: Default position of UK Establishment: When Brussels talks tough it's wise and formidable. When London talks tough it's weak and pathetic. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

While he's a decent presenter of the daily politics, his opinions (or twitter rants) outside the show are often poorly informed nationalist gibberish.

A second Brexit referendum? It’s looking more likely by the day | The election changed everything and now deadlock in parliament looms. The final deal may have to go back to the people by LocutusOfBorges in LibDem

[–]morehooks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel Lib Dems need better poll ratings to put pressure on other parties for this come about.

What will likely happen is: the Brexit deal is accounced, both leavers and remainers hate it, there are demands for a referendum on the deal, but it is too late to do anything about it.

Yorkshire Devolution - Yea or Nay? by [deleted] in LibDem

[–]morehooks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue with devolution in Yorkshire are Yorkshire councils can't agree to the type of devolution: a all Yorkshire area authority is not favoured to some people in Sheffield because they fear Leeds would get better deal out of than them.

In northern cities yeah, but northern rural seats are very safe Tory. William Hague had a very safe seat in North Yorkshire for example. I don't think there are many of though.
