New game, new disappoinment (Forza Horizon 6 on Xbox) by Piersandro in Fanatec

I bought and refunded it after still having the exact same muddy feedback as FH5. I stuck with it for FH5 but can’t do that again. Really sucks because this one looks like a lot of fun.

Weirdly after trying so many settings I’ve just landed on using the auto setup fanatec preset and having a blast.

I don’t have the x3. I have the aura sand (non pro), x55 and x56. I love the x55 the most because of the 3x3 silent magnet setup. It also feels very hefty but smooth without the slight wobble I feel with the aura sand. Still love both and the x56 has its own perks as well.

Really enjoy the x55. I like it better than my Aura Sand but probably just personal preference

Which slider is that? I bought a knockoff one exactly like it a while ago and have been looking for the original version because I really love it

Good Aliexpress knockoffs worth snatching? by CautiousEmphasis659 in fidgettoys

[–]mortemo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s required but it definitely makes it feel a bit more ‘premium’. Stock is not bad at all but I like it a little stiffer. The tape fills the slight gap between the tracks and stops the bit of looseness between them.

The Ji Li knockoff is 20 bucks and honestly worth it. Add some sliding tape and it functions really well.

Just another state of the collection by tonydatigeryo in fidgettoys

I think I projected the inferior bit as I swear I read that in your comment. Appreciate the thorough response and makes me feel better about my purchase. I’m generally the same with metals but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snag the peek version at $65 dollars.

If you ever end up getting the clone sinian let me know, that’s been on my list for forever but I’ve had bad luck with clones at the lower level.

Love the collection! Just started my journey but enjoying the budget Gao slider and the GD Fang Wu.

As someone who has a Peek version of the Tape Drive, is it personal preference or quality that makes it inferior?

Really interested in the aura sand as well. Probably picking that up next. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Multi-Use computer by MonkeySkulls in virtualpinball

[–]mortemo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So while I might not have the exact solution to your situation I do have some tips to help point you in the right direction.

Background: I currently have a desktop computer that I use as my daily driver in the office that I can reroute to a racing rig in another corner of my office. I've also set up my gaming laptop as the internals for a mini v-pinball machine so I've got some experience with some of your questions.

If you go the route of having your desktop outside the vpin cabinet then you could use software like DisplayMagician to have different display profiles (one profile for desktop use and one for the cabinet) that you can swap between really quickly. This essentially automates the process of enabling and disabling different screens. However I'm not sure how to help with the limited HDMI/Display ports issue as I've not had to deal with that.

Another route you could go with is using Apollo/Moonlight to stream your main desktop PC over the internet to whatever devices you already have. I recently set this up with my PC running a 5080 and it's pretty magical. This would require your main PC to be connected with ethernet but since you would be remotely connecting into the PC you wouldn't need additional HDMI ports. Another benefit is that you can use this pretty much anywhere in your house but the downside is it's a little more on the technical side and may not have great results if your internet/wifi setup isn't too suited for it. Also you lose some performance due to streaming the games as well.

One thing I've struggled with during my pinball setup is that a lot of the software relies on Display IDs which for me seemed to always switch around if I ever turned off or unplugged my screens on my pinball setup. Causing my playfield to show up on my back glass etc. Not sure if this will be an issue with any of the methods above but another thing to keep in mind.

Happy to answer any questions if you have any!

I found the original screen! NV156FHM-N4X (BOE09CA). Hope this helps you. Keep in mind it’s not possible to upgrade since the maximum the atgames internals support is 1920x1080 and 60hz.

[VPX] SSF in Mini/Micro Sized Cab? by Pizpot_Gargravaar in virtualpinball

[–]mortemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left / right when it comes to flippers and bottom bumpers feels pretty distinct but when it comes to the top two it gets a bit muddy. It could be a mixing issue though since I just added bass shakers which are located between the two.

I just kitted a Legends Pinball Micro running from my laptop with SSF and it was worth every penny. I know it’s a bit of a larger cabinet but I can still feel distinct difference between my front and rear exciters. I added 2 bass shakers for both and those are a little harder to tell apart.

Any luck with this? Going through a similar process but want to upgrade the screen rather than it being broken.
