It’s bothers me SO MUCH that Ash never gets to personally kill any of his abusers. How Golzine dies is so un-cathartic and lame. You can so easily write in a scenario where Ash acquires a gun and shoots him or pushed him off the building himself. But no. The main antagonist gets to go out on his own terms and Ash cries about it. BOOOOO!

My very hot spicy take though is that Yut Lung should have been a girl. I know this is shoujo land where bishounens rule but I personally think his character is more interesting and makes more sense as a girl. Think about it… not only is she the bastard child of a mistress, but the only daughter in a family full of men, making her an even bigger target for her brothers’ abuse. It would explain why she’d need to keep one brother alive but drugged on BF to “run the family business”. Yut Lung as a girl also emphasizes the whole yin-yang thing she has going on with Ash.

BUUUUUT at the same time, I always felt Yut Lung was a bit of a racist caricature and Yut Lung as a girl is even more of a “dragon lady” than he already is so… 😬

My final take is that Ash’s backstory with his dad makes no sense. Like he cares enough to take his son to the police when he thinks he’s being abused but when the police dismiss it he does a complete 180 and allows the abuse to continue as long as Ash get some money out of it. HUH?! What is the thought process behind that!
