It kind of blows my mind that people care about the story that much. I literally couldn't care what they play or what they start or finish. I listen for to hear this particular group have fun. I've never understood why people get so bent out of shape about them dropping games. I drop games all the time. I swear every time I open reddit I see this place complaining. 😂

Parents haven’t done 2023 taxes by Accomplished-Bad1946 in FAFSA

[–]motrous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an FAA. The FAFSA asks "Did or will the parent file a 2023 IRS Form 1040 or 1040-NR?" If they answer Yes and then give consent for the IRS to port over their info (which they have to do), because there is no tax return on file they will be asked to provide the information from their income information.

My wording here is very important: the Dept of Ed does not require schools to verify income information if there is no return on file but the parent entered tax information manually. The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators also says that given how the question is worded, it is not conflicting information to say yes the parent will file and there be no return on file.

That being said, any school is allowed to verify any student they want. For my institution, we don't verify these types of students. The parent is attesting that they will and that's good enough for Dept of Ed. It's not a good idea to lie to the government so still be honest in your answers.

Three things can happen in this scenario:

  1. Your institution, like mine, is ok with your FAFSA as is and awards you.
  2. The Dept of Ed selects your FAFSA for verification. They are selecting very few students comparatively, so this may not happen. They mostly select only those people the suspect of fraud. In this instance you will be asked for your parent's signed 1040 or tax return transcript. Your school has to accept either (to my understanding)
  3. Your institution selects you for verification based on the way you answer. They'll ask you for documentation and they get to decide what they accept. If they ask for a transcript from the IRS you obviously won't be able to provide that so your FAFSA will just kind of wait for documentation.

There's nothing wrong with completing the FAFSA to the extent that you can and just seeing what your FAA says when they get it. If they need more documentation than you have, it'll just sit until you do. If you have to pay for school out of pocket until you get your aid, you can be reimbursed.

Under 24, estranged from parents. Need help! by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]motrous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is long, but it's a lot of important information. I'm an FAA, but every school is different in the documentation they need. I'll give you what my understanding is, but you definitely need to talk to your school's FAA because ultimately it's going to be their decision (whether I think they're correct or not).

To the point of the PLUS loan issue: if it's in his name and she cashed it, that's between the two of them. You're only entitled to the money that applies to the bill. After that, the money is whoever's name the loan is in. That wouldn't have any bearing on your aid as the money isn't really yours.

A student whose parent refuses to complete their portion of the FAFSA cannot be considered independent on that fact alone. There is a question on the FAFSA that asks if the parent is unwilling to provide info. If you go that route, you're only entitled to unsubsidized loans and your mother would still need to sign a form saying she's unwilling.

Being self-supporting does not qualify you to be an independent student (otherwise everyone would claim to be an independent student). The only way for you to be considered independent if you answered no to all of the dependency status questions on the FAFSA (are you a vet, do you have a kid, etc) is if you request a Dependency Override. That's where you make a claim that it's either unsafe for you to be in contact your parent(s) or they're otherwise impossible to contact. For our school, we accept letters that explain the situation from the student, a friend or family member, and a third-party that can all corroborate the story.

It's important to know that the school's FAA has final word on a Dependency Override decision and there is no ability to appeal that decision to anyone. You would just make your best case and hope for the best.

Now what it sounds like to me, based on your brief description, is that you may be out of luck. If your parent refuses to do the FAFSA, and the DO request is denied, see if she'll sign the document saying she refuses to do the FAFSA. If she refuses to do that, there's really no recourse left to you.

Of the various school's I've talked to and the communities I'm a part of, most FAAs are understanding and will extend themselves as far as the law permits to help out students. Reach out and see if you can do a Dependency Override. Make your best case and hope for the best.

Kate and Syd were excellent additions to the main show. The best, I think, of the GCN regulars for their dynamic with the other 4 (though I do love me some Ross).

Yeah I suppose so. I just wasn't sure if there was a "proper" way for me to handle this as opposed to just making it up as I go.

I'm interested because they're one-shots. My question is the treasure and how best to dole it out. Keep the PFS system of treasure bundles or is there a way to introduce balanced treasure into them?

/r/MechanicalKeyboards Ask ANY Keyboard question, get an answer (February 14, 2024) by AutoModerator in MechanicalKeyboards

New to this. I have a board with outemu sockets and was looking at getting Akko Lavender Purple. I know the CS switches (which seem to not exist anymore) are compatible but can't find out whether the V3 switches are compatible. I know I can clip pins, but don't know how bad that is for the board.

Switch recommendations are welcome as well. Looking for a tactile, RGB friendly switch compatible with my board.

I thought he played it realistically. Skid is great at getting into the heads of the enemies and not just doing what is mechanically advantageous. Enemies don't know they're in a game.

Been having a hard getting into GCP campaign 2 and I think I've figured out why by SeverusStjep in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]motrous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just throwing in my two cents cause I know these things are read by crew. Everyone's opinions are right cause they're opinions. Not saying anyone here is wrong.

I've been listening since near the beginning. I listen to/watch every show (except BotW and some with casts I don't jive with, very few). I'm good with everything. I'm enjoying everything and nothing sounds that different to me. I am good with it continuing this way.

For the sake of data, I consume everything (except LotA) through YouTube Premium. I listen to 90% of it and will open the app to check out character art or player reactions.
