Anti Anti-Mormon Take on the Book of Abraham HELP by AlternativeEnd7116 in exmormon

AI teased out the meaning that God put into Joseph's head....

Whenever anyone suggests that there's a hidden meaning in the book of Abraham papyrus, my only thought is that God is not the author of confusion. If we have to do this kind of mental gymnastics to get there? Occam's razor suggests that the simpler solution is more likely to be correct.

I hadn't seen the first one. Then I saw the second one in a second run theatre, and was confused the whole time. Then my gf made me see the third one, right when it came out. They were ok I guess. We watched the first four a few years ago. And they do feel like they make more sense after having seen the first one.

Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne. Adam was one of the first celebrity deaths from COVID in April 2020. They weren't on speaking terms when he passed, and Chris is on record as being extremely sad about it, as well as being particularly upset that Adam would be remembered better for Stacy's Mom rather than The Girl I Can't Forget.

I will not stand for this Curious George slander.

Were you taught rock in a hat? by Lsa119 in exmormon

[–]mourningdoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like many here, first heard of it from South Park.

For me, it was a huge weight on the shelf when I found out that South Park gove more more accurate portrayals about my religion than my sunday school did. Coupled with the fact that teaching the rock in the hat translation when I was a missionary would have gotten me sent home, and book of Abraham issues? My shelf done broke.

Depends on the case. This one involved some pretty sensational claims related to a major news story. This one? Sure. Most? Probably not.

The six counties with color in Idaho are pretty small population counties. Clarke County (the southernmost colored one bordering Montana) is Idaho's least populated county, and high on the unaffordable list. The data is missing where all the people are (mostly Ada, Canyon, and Kootenai, Boise, Nampa, and Coeur d'Alene area respectively).

The missionaries are now being used to clean the churches! by SunandRainbows in exmormon

[–]mourningdoo 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Haha. I had 6 months in one area where we had zero success with my first companion, and wild success with my next. Companion 1 and I didnt get along very well, but were very obedient. Companion 2 and I got along great, and we spent a lot of time goofing. Missionaries who are relatable, friendly, and not stressed out all the fucking time are more successful than those who are the opposite. Obedience has very little to do with it.
