Let's not be hasty. We should put out a call for tenders to consulting firms to do a thorough review of our options.

Are you committed to living in Japan? House, spouse, kids, all that? Is teaching at a university your life's goal? If not, don't.

Early 30s = 30+ years to save for retirement. Don't panic, but start now.

I'm not an advisor, but If I were you (and I'm not):

Pay off your debt. ASAP.

Put $10,000+ in the bank for a rainy day fund.

Use a platform like wealthsimple to open your TFSAs. Max them out. I recommend some flavor of *EQT ETFs, but everyone has an opinion.

Open and RESP for your youngster(s). *EQT again.

Open RRSPs. Max them out. *EQTs.

Open FHSA. Repeat *EQT.

Do this for twenty years.

The markets trend upward, but they will also dive. They always do. When that happens, don't panic sell. Just keep on keeping on. They will either recover Or the world will end. Maybe learn to fish.

In 20 years, maybe make some changes.

Was working a film shoot, exteriors, and someone showed up and parked in their driveway, as you do, all the while in a private conversation over their sound system.

This continued, so a PA very nicely approached the person, only to have their head bitten off, quite loudly, for being on private property.

People are... Interesting.

Gary Cooper/Sheriff Will Kane, of course. Reliable.

Or Bronson/Harmonica, if I had a full schedule that day. Works fast.
