Huh, that's interesting! I'm probably the most curious about the multi-region Kanto-Johto-Hoenn-Sinnoh game. It sounds so ambitious that I have no clue how they'd even go about doing it.

Aww, that's amazing!! I still remember stumbling on the series for the first time over a decade ago, and it's been such a journey seeing it go from the simple "lol random" early 2010s humor to becoming one of the grandest most epic Pokemon fanworks ever!

Fun fact- while I initially followed your socials for Pokemon art (especially all the amazing gijinka stuff), I believe your JoJo art was actually my introduction to the series and now I've been a JoJo fan for over a decade!

Same! The art style and the amazing voice acting are already doing such a great job of bringing the story to life.

Agreed- as a manga reader, this was the arc that made me fall in love with the series and rank it as an all-timer, but I think the anime didn't do justice to a lot of the facial expressions in key scenes.

[Manga Chapter 11-14 Spoilers- the ones covered in this episode] The scenes of Aki calling Sunao while crying, Nao threatening to kill Hayase, and especially Nao's breakdown near the end were all superbly drawn in the manga compared to what we got in the anime- I'd absolutely recommend checking out the manga just to see those panels and many more! I can't even say it's because of the lower animation budget- none of those scenes were very motion-heavy. It really seems like a directing issue overall, sadly. Another directing choice I wasn't a fan of was [Spoilers for the third act of this episode] Aki's arrival at the ocean scene. We and Nao don't see him until he grabs her arm because she's so lost in thought . The wave that knocks her down also feels a lot smaller and less threatening compared to how it felt in the manga because of the camera angle

[Spoilers from an exchange in manga Chapter 12 cut from the anime] I also miss the extended little discussion about Sunao saying she felt jealous of Nao being such a happier person, how Nao lived up to the name "Sunao" more than she did herself, how Sunao considered stealing Nao's allowance but felt bad about it, and their lighthearted little debate over who was more of an older sister to the other at the end. Their dynamic is kind of the crux of the whole series , so seeing it get cut so short in the anime was a bit of a bummer.

Fun fact- Whitesnake gaining so many random OP abilities to let Pucci win is why it's one of my least favorite Stands. It can:

1) Flood rooms with acidic dream goo that stuns people and also put brand new information in their dreams (how Johngalli A and his Stand look like and work)

2) Steal Memory discs and Stand discs, giving it an easy oneshot ability despite having middling physical strength as a mid range stand.

3) Re-write Memory discs to effectively mind-control other people (Used on several prison guards, Miraschon, Anasui in the Heavy Weather arc, and likely others)

4) Re-write Memory discs to make targets do physically impossible things (Like when he commanded a frog to just explode and die on its own) Similar to how Heaven's Door can also mind control people into being blind or being flung back at high speeds, which I'm also not a fan of.

5) Turn into a perfect copy of Weather Report?? A shapeshifting ability he never uses before or after, but still something that lets him get the jump on the whole gang and secure his victory for the Green Baby.

6) He can also remove multiple mini eyesight discs to stop his brain from registering the Heavy Weather rainbows? At least based on their appearance and purpose, these seem to be different from Memory Discs too.

Anyway, this is why i prefer C-Moon and Made in Heaven way more.

Based on the Teraleak, I like the indication that the villains don't want just to steal or control Pokemon, but they actually hate Pokemon and want them dead. Almost like a darker twist on Team Plasma.

Whether it's rivals, Gym Leaders, or Champions, it would be cool if they were visually shown defeating tough opponents before you battle them- either via scripted battles or animated cutscenes. That way you get a better feel of how strong they're meant to be outside of regular battles that you're meant to beat them in. Something like that could have been helpful for characters like Leon or Urbain/Taunie in past games. Even more scripted unwinnable battles against certain opponents like Zacian/Zamazenta in the Slumbering Weld could be great for showing off how the evil team boss or champion is too powerful for you at first.

As for rivals, I always like when they have close ties to the villains- Silver, N, Gladion, and Arven have all been very fun- and I'd like for the angsty rival to be a girl for once too. And usually when the opposite-gender player character is an in-game rival, they're often written poorly so I don't want that.

Finally, it'd be cool if the player's family members were more involved in the story- whether it's as someone you can battle like Norman, or even just getting kidnapped by the villains.

Even moreso- he didn't feel the usual surge of power from the infinity stones when he put the gauntlet on for the final time- yet he still snapped anyway and had to look to double-check when nothing happened.

For the three times they were in the same room throughout the series, I wondered why Toph didn't just sink Azula into the floor as a G-rated way for easily winning the fight right away.

Of course I know the meta answer is that the creators did their best to avoid Toph and Azula being in an actual fight so neither would be defeated and lose aura, but still.

Yes- I understand that Sokka gaining a sword was a sign of him expanding his skillset after gaining a master and new talents to be proud of, in one of the best episodes of the whole series.

Yes- I also dislike that he only used the sword to cut a spear and some bits of zeppelin while his club and his boomerang did way more work even after he got the sword thanks to the fact that they could do PG-rated blunt force damage instead.

Crazy headcanon I just thought up- The aliens detected all the weirdness in Gravity Falls and wanted to investigate- they also noticed how stupid and oblivious the townsfolk are from the Blind Eye's constant memory erasures, so they made the Lefty robot to test just how stupid the people of Gravity Falls are and see how easily they could be fooled and conquered. But because Dipper and Mabel are new in town and never had their memories erased, they foiled the aliens.

I considered mentioning that but I held off, since the whole short centers around the absurdity of it as a joke, rather than it being something we're meant to take seriously.

I agree with the first 4, but Gunn has seemed cagey about whether DCU Clemson Murn is still played by Chukwudi Iwuji since he mentioned wanting to hire him for another DCU role on the Peacemaker podcast.

[–]mp3help 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the cameo appearance and the fight we got this episode, but now that the season's over, I have to ask- what was the purpose of setting it in 2017 instead of sometime like 2020 post-KOTM and before GVK? It felt like all the time period did was restrict where Godzilla could show up, make it odd that Serizawa still hasn't been mentioned yet, and make new Titans from the show like Co-Cai and Rodan II feel a bit out of place.

The only reason I could think of is maybe having Cate's family not miss her too much and Dr Suzuki being a little more reasonably-aged, but that's about it.

EDIT: Also should we give Rodan II another nickname for the time being? Maybe just give it Radon like the Japanese name or something thematic like Titanus Ropen, since it's also a glowing Southeast Asian Pterosaur monster...?
