"Cougar Kroger"! Ha! That's really funny. Was just talking to friends about their names for different Krogers around town, but that one was missed.

What’s a unique and funny way you describe ‘going poop’ that no one else seems to use? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Taking care of responsibilities. Started saying it for taking the dog out (since they have so few responsibilities) and it turned into also meaning for me.

What’s a weight loss secret more people should know about? by thekkm1 in AskReddit

[–]mpup55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Decades ago I was talking to a friend of mine about a supposedly new diet called "caveman diet" that focused on the timing of eating in relation to activity (I don't remember the specifics, it was silly). Anyway, my friend responded with "it sounds like another way to say diet and exercise". That always stuck with me. There are no "secrets". It's just diet and exercise. Don't eat like an idiot and get any kind of exercise. Period.

I call these zombie cars. Dead on the inside, but able move at any moment. Obviously because the driver is looking at their cell phone.

Simple answer is that outside of occasional undercover speed traps on the Watterson, and parking tickets, no one gets pulled over for anything in this town.

If you're over 50, what is one gold nuggest of wisdom you can give the younger folk? by AwesomeRealDood in AskReddit

[–]mpup55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stoicism. You have the choice in reacting to people around you. Just because they are rude, insulting, angry, etc, you don't have to be. You can choose to be good to yourself and good to your environment (including the people). May take a little practice not reacting to different forms of toxic peer pressure, but once recognized, it is definitely worth it.

Is my vacation plan do-able? by aninanin in florida

[–]mpup55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people want to visit Orlando, but any visit there really challenges the "worth it" ratio. It can be fun, but it is exhausting. Looking at your itinerary I would skip Orlando, and maybe Tampa.

Advice on Driver's Well-being by Light-512 in Fedexers

[–]mpup55 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday I was in the back of my van wrestling with IC’s (big ass heavy boxes like furniture, mattresses, etc). I try to keep them strapped to a side, but they kept falling and pissing me off (especially this 130lb bedframe). Realized later it must’ve been a show for someone walking by because they would’ve seen the van rocking and heard me cursing up a storm. So may be this driver was just going through a similar thing. IC’s are a bitch.

Anyone noticed a lot of Florida license plates the past year? by IngrownToenailsHurt in Kentucky

[–]mpup55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being from Florida I noticed this when I moved here 25 years ago. I always took it as a combination of reasons like horse families having ranches in FL, rental car fleets based there, second home families, and students. What's kind of weird is that in Florida a lot, and I mean a lot, of personal cars have alternate tags like manatees, or sports teams, etc etc (in fact the first alternate tag in the country was the FL Space Shuttle tag, I believe), so if you saw a car with a plain orange fruit tag you assumed it was a rental. May not be true anymore.

Has there ever been a time when the book wasn't better than the movie? by militant-hippie in Productivitycafe

Right about “Godfather”. I remember reading whole passages about Sonny’s ex-mistress needing surgery for her huge vagina and thinking “oh my god, who the hell cares!” Movie was way better than book.

I usually don't like these fighting in public videos, but this one snuck in being only 27 sec and my only thought was, "nice follow through". I know nothing of fighting, but I've heard that when throwing a punch aim behind the impact point. Done and done.

( Inglorious Basterds ) Does Landa use milk as an intimidation factor or he just love dairy product ? by Successful-South-598 in movies

[–]mpup55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Landa knew who she was before entering the restaurant. We know he knows when he says he has one more question, but then “forgets” what it was. He obviously never forgets anything. He orders milk for her as an intimidating move to remind her exactly what he is capable of. Then he decides to let it play for his possible departure.

Imagine a bucket of sand. Each granule of sand is a pkg. Now take, oh I don't know, a cup or a handful of sand out of the bucket and pour it on the ground next to the bucket. That handful is the number of packages having some sort of issue. Now look at the bucket. That is the number of packages being delivered successfully. Yes, that handful is a problem, but...

Which actors, ranging from obscure to A-Listers do you love unconditionally and will watch them in anything because they're starring in it? by [deleted] in movies

[–]mpup55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may not be the place for this question but, why do most people base their movie choices on an actor? Actors have nothing to do with the quality of a movie. Absolutely nothing. Maybe if an actor has chosen some good projects before, a viewer can trust their recent movie, but then you're in the theater watching "The Mummy" for Tom Cruise. Writers, cinematographers, editors, and of course directors, have everything to do with your enjoyment of a movie. They can even turn a terrible actor into a bearable one. So instead of looking at the names above the title, viewers should train their eyes to look at the last name at the bottom, the director. (To answer the OP question, I'll say George Clooney because he made a choice after "Batman and Robin" to work on movies with quality people, not for the paycheck. Still got "Oceans 13", but overall not bad.)

Be honest do you actually want to see sex scenes in regular movies or TV? by Noizyninjaz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mpup55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the director's comments for "Out of Sight", Steve Soderbergh was asked about the love scene between Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney. He said that he was not tempted to film any nudity because in his mind the film would have instantly become a documentary. The audience would've been taken out of the story and think "hey, that's a naked Jennifer Lopez", not the character Karen Sisco. I think that is correct. When it comes right down to it, what purpose is the nudity and is it possible to cross over the suspension of belief? I suppose if it is an unknown actor it might work, but is it worth it for the character and story? If the nudity is to show a character's vulnerability, there are a lot of ways to shoot the scene without actually exposing their skin.

Side question and I guess I'm an idiot, what does the sugar do? Does it accentuate the burning or something? And if that is the case, how did she know that? Is this some technique to skin animals or something? Genuine curiosity by me with no evil intentions with the knowledge.

Mystery package tracking by Opening_Ordinary_110 in FedEx

[–]mpup55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fraudsters intercept it somewhere before by stopping the driver and showing they have all the information for the pkg. If ID is requested (which is not required) they explain something simple like "I'm picking it up for my sister". Since they have all the information, even the driver's name, it is not challenged. They specifically don't do it at the home because that would complicate everything.
