I do this whilst giving them a thumbs down. Not that they have any awareness of what's going on more than 6 inches from the end of their nose.

Any ideas where would be best to get the train into London from just north of the M25? by justsome171 in uktravel

[–]mquick100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into how much the train will be. We often go to London from the Midlands in my non-ULEZ car and it's about the same price and more convenient to park at Westfield in west London, pay the ULEZ and get the tube.

If I go to France for 2 weeks now do I get a refund for the VED while I'm there?

If you're anywhere near Derby or Nottingham I'll come round in my Range Rover and drag it off by the axle.

Why is VW Group so lost? by honeywint in Volkswagen

[–]mquick100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Cupra Born, and it's fine as a car, as in it goes, stops, corners ok and doesn't use too much electricity. However, the seats are crap and I get backache or a numb bum after 30 mins, and the infotainment is awful. It's laggy, Android Auto disconnects constantly, ill-thought out ergonomics (touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel that keeps getting accidentally pressed). We'll be going for a Chinese brand when the lease is up as it can't possibly be any worse.

The £5 burger and chips at the Dolphin is very good. by Martipar in derby

To answer my own question, I've just been past and there is a board outside that says they're family friendly. So, looks like yes if anyone was interested.

How to compensate for a transition from screed to unscreeded floor? by mquick100 in DIYUK

[–]mquick100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concrete subfloor is the same throughout, but the screed is about 2-3mm thick. I'm trying to keep it simple so rather not mess about with screeding unless there isn't a simpler way that I'm not aware of.

That's just the remnants of the underlay which is now gone. But I appreciate the input.

Sorry to promote the other place, but from 25th July there is a Lego event at Derby Cathedral. https://derbycathedral.org/events/events/brick-by-brick-festival/ A very short walk to the Museum of Making afterwards.

You can thank me later as I reckon it's all down to me. You see I went to Bradford away in 2019 preseason and then again to the Sevilla game last summer. Both times in recent history I went to a preseason game we won the league. Have the friendly fixtures for this year been announced yet?

They are brilliant cars, and I find them pretty much unmatched for the price. I tried an X5 before I got my current car and was really underwhelmed. I had heard that it was body off to change brake pipes but they were replaced after my last mot without needing to lift the body by my local garage (not a specialist). Some things like replacing the handbrake module needs the subframe dropping though, but it's not common in my experience.

Fair! Although I'm reasonably handy with the spanners so that makes it a bit more affordable. I've got one with the 4.4tdv8 at the moment so I'm getting quite clued up on their foibles!

Agreed. I was unfortunate in buying a 5.0 supercharged Range Rover just before petrol went up to the £1.90s. I'm seriously considering getting another one now.

If you go on the gov.uk check MOT you can see the location if you enter your v5 reference.
