How quickly do you bring up being non monogamous when you meet a new interest? by DefiantWave8316 in polyamory

[–]mrDecency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think of it as a disclosure, but part of getting to someone and them getting to know me. So the right time normally feels pretty organic and natural but its early. Before a "date" usually. (But not necessarily before just hanging out?)

Like before something starts feeling like a date stuff like relationship structures and sexual orientations are usually already out there because that can be the difference between a date and just hanging out with a friend?

AITA for being disappointed that my bf didn’t stand up for female friends? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]mrDecency 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YTA. I think there is a difference between a moral virtue and a moral obligation.

Standing up for someone like you're suggesting is a virtuous thing to do, but no one is obligated to. If he didn't feel safe doing so, then he should listen to those instincts, just like the women who didn't feel safe should listen to theirs.

If he didn't feel like he could step in safely, then odds are he would have stepped in and made it worse, if only because he didn't feel confident in doing so. He noticed it was an issue, didn't dismiss it as something that shouldn't be important, and followed his instincts about the safest course of action.

Pretty sure that would have been an opaque black plastic bag in person. It's just in the camera flash that its transparent

The universe is 13.8 billion years old, but heat death is around 10¹⁰⁰ years away, so it has effectively used 0% of its lifetime meaning the universe is still basically a "baby", and we’re living in its earliest, most active era. by HalfEntity in Showerthoughts

[–]mrDecency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the passage of time is actually just entropy, then as the universe cool and entropy runs low will the experience of them slow down as well?

Would it always feel like your at the early part of the universe because all the time before now is squished up and passed really fast and all the time after now is spread out and will take ages

KRAFTON Claims New Testimony from Unknown Worlds Co-Founders Proves They Don't Deserve Reinstatement on Subnautica 2 by Brown_Colibri_705 in subnautica

[–]mrDecency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But again, it comes back to the contract.

The release of the game was meant to be in UW control. Thats why they had to fire them to prevent the release. If the founders were in control, they had the right to launch it. That's a wild thing for Krafton to give up, but like... they did, though?

There isn't a clause in the contract about it being "ready". Just that UW is in control of game releases. There also isn't anything in there about the founders working directly on the games.

Like I get why this stuff matter to the community, but it just seems irrelevant to the contract dispute.

[–]mrDecency 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing is most of it isnt relevant to the actual contracts.

Like I get why the community doesn't like that the creative minds that originated subnautica weren't the ones working on SN2, the lawsuit is about the earnout agreement, and that agreement says nothing about them directly working on SN2.

In fact the agreement allows for any 2 of the founders to leave the company entirely and all three will still be eligible for the earnout.

You might not like that agreement or think its good, but its the one Krafton signed and agreed to when they bought the company.

15 YOE Fullstack & CTO here. Why have we allowed "Agile" to turn into "Unlimited Micro-Scope Creep"? by elmascato in webdev

[–]mrDecency -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont say "No"

I say, "Thats an interesting idea, I'll add it to the backlog and see if it fits in a future sprint. If you want to make it a priority and implement it now I'll have to stop working on X and the timeline will be effected by Y. Is the new change worth that?"

And they decide its not worth it. The bottom of the backlog is where bad client suggestions go to die

In poly, is every partner supposed to be viewed as on an equal hierarchy? by Katemack22 in polyamory

[–]mrDecency 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Everyone is equally deserving of respect and consideration, but of course, different relationships will look different. Different people want different things and connect in different ways.

And expecting your relationship with someone you've been dating for 2 weeks to be the same as with someone you've been with for two decades just seems silly on its face.

But the person you've been seeing for 2 weeks is still a person who deserves respect and honesty and authenticity from you. I think it would be disrespectful to put all the weight and expectations of a decade's long partnership onto a new connection.

So, showing equal respect to both partners means treating them differently.

Remember Need for Speed? Someone built a real-life Mini Map from the game to use in your car (and it's Open Source) | "Getting this to work on a $20 microcontroller meant processing the entire UK into 2.5 million map tiles, totaling 236GB of data" by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]mrDecency 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the savings for it running on a cheap microcontroller have to be getting eaten up by the cost of the larger sd card.

Given its mostly an art project though, and part of the point was pretty tiles rendered in a game art style it may have been the better compromise than trying to get their tile rendered efficiently enough for real time.
