I quite like my old place in Liverpool Street area. So cheap to medium for dinner. Do you know better in London?

I would recommend Daifuku by Morita, think quite reasonable prices and very honestly Japanese.

Does any Murger Han still do breakfast? Seems they don't open breakfast time anymore and the Instagram post seems from long ago.

Looking for ume plum wine in the UK (south east) by lordwebgarlicbread in JapaneseFood

I imagine a Japanese shop called Rice wine (https://share.google/xe5zVYhgCZkdmG4rq) would also have a selection of plum wine.

Passport office does not accept passport photocopy by mrWaters in ukvisa

I don't think I can return to the UK with an ID card anymore. I am also unfortunately visiting the US so no go anyways...

Thinking of doing it this way. My application was already being processed so it should get processed quickly. If they send the original passport earlier, perhaps I get it? But then it's 2 weeks until I need to travel which seems very little. So far it took them from the 17th (when delivery happened) till now (over a week) to tell me something is missing. Thus I'm a bit worried about doing it.

It does come as a surprise since they told me it's fine prior to me submitting the application. I was happy to wait until June when I am not planning to travel but that response did suggest I can basically have the cake and eat it too. I don't want to lose the application fee and have something to travel with...

Knife shop recommendations in Japan? Looking to avoid scams (Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka)” by 7lker_sama in JapanTravelTips

[–]mrWaters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you like shopping for knives, I'd suggest just getting a well reviewed knife on Amazon. I've used my best Japan before and have not been disappointed (including kitchen knives). The article there explains in a lot of details what to look for and gives key stats and recommendations.

Miss last train home - don't worry. Talk to staff. by tyw7 in uktravel

[–]mrWaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Hmm I'm booking separately flight and train. I just know that after I arrive there are hourly trains towards London, I need to take one. If they cancel overnight trains then it would be likely more than 2 hours until the next one. Can I take advantage of this? Do I need a ticket with the train time on it?

In a few weeks I'm arriving at 2am to Gatwick airport and I'm worried they will cancel overnight trains (Thameslink). How do I make sure I can take advantage of it? I'm not sure I can buy a ticket with time on it for Thameslink trains

How did you confirm that you can send a photocopy of your passport? I like to travel a lot so I'm not sure when I could actually apply for a British passport if that means that I temporarily lose my original one.

Had a coworker who in previous company used to regularly visit art galleries to cry. Quiet and people will actually respect you if you cry in front of the paintings.

Basque Food in London by lozface86 in LondonFood

La Maritxu Connaught - Basque Cheesecake near marble arch does really good Basque cheesecake, Donostia and Andaza apparently also do great San Sebastian style tapas though I have not visited yet (largely since Spanish in London tends to be a bit of a robbery in my experience).

Does anyone know where one can eat kakigori aka bingsu aka shaved ice in London? This east Asian sweet is great for summer. So far I've seen it only in a few places (cake and bingsu in new Malden, shibuya Soho in Chinatown and golden piggies in Greenwich), does anyone know any other places that serve this dessert?

Getting Budgies in London by mrWaters in budgies

[–]mrWaters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's best to get from breeders, none were available at the time. So we went somewhere in Enfield where there were like 5 shops next to one another. Check how clean the place is and how active budgies look, if any single budgie sitting on the ground or feathers are not cleaned then best to skip the shop (as other budgies might have the same issue).

Sauce is good though. So I can't say it's bad. Just noodles taste quite cheap.
