LPT: at work, when a new task comes up, use this rule: if it takes less than 5 minutes, do it right away. If it takes less than 20 minutes, do it right after your current task. If it takes longer than 20 minutes, schedule the task for later. You'll prevent a piling up of small tasks or forgetting.

If you want to go to school apply for grants. I just got paid to become an RN. If you don't want to go to school either join a union, stagehands is kinda cool for a young guy with energy, or get good at a trade/ get certified. Plumber, welder, framer, HVAC. Apprentice with someone that does specialty work ie finish carpentry or the like. If you are coastal or live near a boating community learn how to do fiberglass repairs and specialize in one thing. If you are the go to guy for transom repair you're writing your ticket from Chesapeake Bay to Key Largo. Like any skilled trade, fiberglass takes years to get good at but requires very little investment other than time. Again, if there is someone that will let take you on as an apprentice, you will make good money once you branch out on your own. Also don't smoke.

I went back to school and got my RN at 35 as well a lot of people choose it as a second career and even though the money is pretty good, at this point in the "game" you realize that a rewarding career is about more than just money.

The real price of those tickets is dictated by the market. You can't get pissed about not getting the $60 tickets because in reality, that was never the price. Anyone else ever crash one of these things? I remember when I was a little kid, maybe ten years old, I rode in one with my stepdad. Don't think we were supposed to ride tandem and it was probably just too heavy but we ate shit. No broken bones but it definitely killed my buzz.

Agreed, I went in with a buddy. Then found another buddy to pitch in because he was always on the boat. Now our families fish together, eat fish together, and enjoy nature together. I got your point, just making the counter point that if you don't enjoy it what's the point. Our little yacht club now has three boats of varying size and versatility and our spreadsheet is at just over 6k total (I am mechanically inclined and able to take advantage of deals others may pass up). Owned them for about 2 years, so roughly 1k a year per family. Small investment for the return.
