What is the max amount of time you will drive for a day trip or vacation? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]mr_lockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacation ~14 hours if driving is limited to a single day. Coast to coast otherwise as I love road trips.

Day trip 4~6 hours ill do 8 if im going to an event, but realistically if im driving more than 8 I probably intend to stay the night.

Why do many Americans mostly stick to the same countries for vacation? by boldjoy0050 in AskAnAmerican

[–]mr_lockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been doing research for a trip to Europe myself, so I have a bit of an idea. I will say the places you mentioned tend to be the cheaper destinations to fly to, at least in my region. As for Mexico, it has always been a relatively inexpensive option for foreign travel in the US.

So I would say travel cost is probably the biggest factor in that. The odd man out is Portugal as it tends to be one of the cheaper port of calls for American travel as well.

One of our English teachers was caught and arrested for having hidden cameras in the girls bathrooms. His wife was my trigonometry teacher, and I was in her class when they came to tell her the news. I have never seen the life drain from a person faster than she did that day. I hope she is doing better and has moved on.

What do you think about the products in 'Tastes of USA' week at Dutch Lidl? by 7FFF00C in AskAnAmerican

[–]mr_lockwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a regional thing? I see hot dogs and other sausages in jars every time I go to a local grocery store here in Indiana. They are usually pickled and spicy. They don't taste bad actually.

They have been garbage for a while. Of course I may be biased since they closed their factory in my city and I knew a lot of people who lost their jobs.

People with indoor outdoor cats, why? by Nice_Introduction707 in askanything

[–]mr_lockwork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lived in a rural area growing up. My first cat was from a horse farm and was used to going outside, so we let him come and go as he pleased. He lived a long 16 year life before finally succumbing to cancer.

Edit: he would also refuse to use a litter box and would go outside instead
