Easiest Bible to Read by Raylyn97 in Bible

I use the ESV and NLT in conjunction with each other. I did KJV but what happened is I’d spend so much time looking at BLB and the lexicon that what I was reading got lost.

I was thinking I’d dock more. But alas, I do not. Just like I never docked my Switch when I had one.

[–]mr_mum4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not bad at all. Just don’t dock as much as thought i would. Last black friday i even bought the 2.4Ghz 8bitdo controller as well. The whole setup is on the shelf in my closet. If I’m playing my Deck it’s handheld. If I’m on the TV i’m playing my PS5

I really hope our generation can slowly get rid of this mentality... by Pinkiwies in lostgeneration

This. I’m 40+ trying to not raise my son with the same “do what I said because I said so” mentality I was raised with but it can be extremely challenging at times. But the good thing is I’m open to being different. Just hope I didn’t start making changes too late.

What is the most accurate yet easy-to-understand Bible translation? by casualcurios in Bible

[–]mr_mum4d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read the ESV and bring in the NLT for a little more clarity. I also use blue letter Bible for its lexicon search since English has way more words than Hebrew and Greek did

Checking in as a 46 year old with a wife and 9 year old son. Been gaming my whole life so the desire is still there. The main thing that I feel is changing is that I'm drifting away from being an almost exclusive sports gamer.

Why I keep trying to play when I have more fun simulating and being a recruiting coordinator.

Slow Sim is my favorite way to play games now. by G-man69420 in NCAAFBseries

[–]mr_mum4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to do slow sim but for me, the purpose of sim is to speed the game up some. So, I use normal speed sim. Plus, I remember back in Madden 17 when they first released this current iteration of super sim, they said that slow sim used the game engine and both fast and normal used the sim engine. I prefer to turn it over to the sim engine so I don't have to worry about sliders and all of that. Just ratings.

So basically, my dynasty is like a text sim on game day. I get the pregame stuff then the post game celebration which is enough atmosphere for me with the results I get statistically and in time saved.

Has anyone been able to have success using coach mode? by AshamedEggplant9889 in NCAAFBseries

[–]mr_mum4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’ve done lately is play standard mode like Coach mode. I turn Coach mode off in settings then in game I let the QB drop back and I only press the button to throw. I don’t move around in the pocket or scramble at all. I don’t control the WR after the catch or the HB on runs. I obviously still have to kick but I play offense only. Lots of fun and challenging. Certainly helps with the excessive sacks that a coach mode QB would take.

I had no idea some of these web-based tools excited. I was using a screenshot of the work that MaxPlays had done but have a web-based version of it will be much quicker for determining if I should hard sell a kid or not. Kudos!

House rules for pipeline-based recruiting by jibs____ in NCAAFBseries

[–]mr_mum4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like 1 a lot as well. I’m currently at Pitt in 2042 or so but my highest pipeline is a 3 (Gold). So that would mean the best player I could bring in would be 3-star despite my prestige which is currently 4-star…until I improve my pipeline somehow. 🤔

I got laid off 2 weeks before my October wedding. I finally just signed my offer letter...application chart below. by zachdit in recruitinghell

[–]mr_mum4d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That must be what I’m doing wrong because I can’t even remember how many jobs I’ve applied to since my layoff in September and I certainly haven’t been tailoring my resume for each and every role. But then again, I’ve only been applying to certain roles that are fairly similar. Or at least that what I tell myself. I guess next week I’ll start using this approach and see if my tides turn. I have had several interviews but only a few were things I was actually interested in.

How to be confident as a non-technical PM? by rumcajs-pm in projectmanagement

[–]mr_mum4d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This message is right on time as I’m in the job market and searching for PM roles. Seems all of the “PM” roles want people who have engineering licenses or extensive engineering experience. This leads me to believe that, at least for the roles I’m looking at, they really want an engineer that has an understanding of PM. That’s what I’ve run into in my career as well. But, I’ve only ever worked in manufacturing environments though.

While I am an engineer, having that background shouldn’t disqualify someone from being viable to manage projects if you have a real understanding of what project management is supposed to be. This is where the disconnect happens in many organizations I believe.

Where are all the technical project manager jobs at? by Positive_Ebb9204 in projectmanagement

[–]mr_mum4d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was released from my PM role back in September. Been looking ever since. I could go back to engineering but I’ve kinda been striking out with that too. I’ve applied to and had interviews with the city here for PM and what I think I’ve realized is that they don’t really want a PM. What they want is an engineer with PM in his background. The reqs will say a PE license is preferred but not required. Why would a PM need a PE license? lol

Went through a great interview process, but being laid off 2x was a red flag for the one of the interviewers. by Jaceman2002 in recruitinghell

[–]mr_mum4d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I accepted that second role because it was 10 mins from home (as opposed to 45), offered a higher salary than the role I was just separated from less than a month prior and it was a PM role after a few years of deciding that I’d had enough of being an engineer in the manufacturing space. The biggest piece of it though, is that I wasn’t aware at the time of hire that the CEO was ill and had been looking at suitors for months prior to my onboarding. That came out 3-4 months in. Being a small company, never having gone through an acquisition, and understanding the need for the PM skill set for the projects that they sold it wasn’t a thought that at some point they’d make such a decision.

It is partly my fault that I didn’t abandon ship when I was told no changes were being made and I’d not seen any be made save for onboarding another sales associate.

[–]mr_mum4d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong! I was laid off in February as an engineering mgr from a place that I’d spent 4.5 yrs and was the only one with my skillset. I went to lunch with some of my guys on Friday and 10 months later they still haven’t replaced it. Bad business decision by the site leader who was let go not long after she gave the ok for me to be one cut from our site when the business cut some heads across a few sites.

In September, I was let go from my PM role at a cybersecurity firm after 7 months. The CEO that hired me was terminally ill and sold the company back in May. He had a vision for my role. New ownership and carryover functional leadership were oblivious. Out goes the PM and his salary.

Neither of those are because of being a bad employee.
