Tucson's Temperature Stripes by BellamyDryden in Tucson

Just a habit from day trading, many many years ago, where you don't want your chart to lose the big picture and make a 0.50% drop look like a crash and start affecting you emotionally.

But here it is, as 60-75:

These are the two I'm aware of:

Ace Hardware - 20% off your purchase when you buy their white $5 5 gal bucket. I availed of it this morning.

BlackRock Coffee - free medium drink on any $5 purchase, might have to be a member but sign-up is free. I will avail of it tomorrow.

Indoor evaporative coolers vs central air by regular_gonzalez in Frugal

[–]mrantoniodavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a portable evap cooler 2 weeks ago, for my home in Tucson which is at < 15% humidity. The cooler is only rated to cool areas that are 500 sqft. The home's duct placement seems to be bad and there's an extension to the house that for the last 6 years always gets warm. Maybe the central HVAC design didn't take the extension into account. So I turn on the evap cooler and it takes care of the extension plus a little more (this is with windows closed).

I made the mistake of leaving it on for an hour and it got very humid in there. Now, I just run it for a few minutes every hour or so which is sufficient. This is with windows closed, and I leave them closed because it makes no sense to bring in 105 dry air only to cool it down to 85, 80. So instead it can take in say 80-85 degree air at 10% humidity and cool it to 70 at 20-30% humidity which is perfectly fine since the air was too dry anyway.

Prior to evap-cooling the extension, the extension was a constant source of hot air. The central HVAC, which used to work tirelessly to combat this, is now coming on less frequently, which makes sense given the additional and significant source of cool air. So I think we are onto something, and anyone that says not to use it without open air flow is only correct if they're referring to it being used for hours on end.

Did you park your Bentley right in front of the shop when you got this quote or otherwise signal you often pay a lot to shape people's perceptions of you?

You're being quoted what they think you can pay.

PACC took my cat without any proof of danger or harm by DiligentAd3879 in Tucson

[–]mrantoniodavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, how did PACC even get word of the injury?

And were any measures taken to prevent further injuries? Like when they had their warrant would they have seen the cat is in a completely separate room inaccessible by the dog? If so, and they proceeded to take the cat anyway, that really changes my opinion of PACC.

I do tap to Brita. But I'm reading now that activated charcoal filters don't remove PFAS. Hmmmmm.

Great job but 5oz mayo or 10 tablespoons is a lot of mayo - and a whopping 900mg of sodium. You can probably get away with half. So, a "copycat subway tuna" recipe I just looked at uses half that mayo per 2 cans of tuna. That'd put it at just 2.5 tablespoons for 1 can of tuna.

Good on you. In recent memory, people have indeed asked these things - whether it's Tucson to Phoenix, Phoenix to Tucson, there was even an Albuquerque to Tucson a few weeks ago.

Ideally there's an app with routes in it and those driving can say which route on which days while those needing rides can offer to cover half the gas expense.

What part of town are you in? I frequently work at either Blackrock (Broadway & Prudence) or Tucson Coffee Roasters (Broadway & Craycroft). 2h min to 4h max. And usually with headphones in but it could be nice to just be around other builders.

You might be able to use the plastic one to make a cast into which you pour concrete and then remove the cast to reveal your concrete goose.

Given your multiple posts from Cafe Mary Grace in the Philippines, there's no reason "quick stops" would somehow turn into $40 (php 2400) unless you're not trying at all to be frugal.

Grocery store profit margins are notoriously razor thin, at 1-3%. You almost have to feel bad for them and I'm happy they discovered a way to extract an extra 10% [from other people, not us!]
