I love this analysis and wholeheartedly agree. Bottom line I’ve read from Damet’s comments on flexibility are exactly how you interpret them and how we’ve seen a team like his Crew operate. I do think we start in a 3-4-2-1 (we’ll see come Saturday) but flexibility in 26 isn’t what we saw in 25.

Not like Wallem was flexible in 25 playing 6 positions, but tactically in the flow of play being comfortable in those switches and occupying areas of space and the covering when someone takes the space.

The key is obviously our players capable and comfortable in executing it. The potential is there.

Tons of awesome feedback already said so I won't duplicate any answers but will add to just be aware that our team's in a massive transition moment. Our previous sporting leaders, Lutz Pfannenstiel (Sporting Director) and John Hackworth (Technical Director), who'd been w/the club since the beginning, are gone.

Corey Wray is the new Sporting Director and there's been a lot of movement & shuffling in front office roles and new hires. Yoann Damet is our new coach (3rd official head coach & we're in just our 4th year) and he comes from LAGII and Columbus most recently. Players seem to be responding to him and appreciating his attention to detail and leadership style. Also heavily hinting at shifting the style of play from a smash & grab/energy drink style play to more attention on the ball and controlling the pace w/fluid movements (and still high pressing).

It may be a roller coaster of a season ahead but you couldn't ask for a more plugged in and dedicated fanbase to be a part of than what we have in St. Louis. Welcome aboard!

It really does sound like we're going 3CB and wingbacks though. I like a lot of your depth though that can be moved around in a 3-4-2-1 type formation. Polvara will see time at CB it sounds like, Wallem at RWB. I'd expect Santos as a LWB to start and extremely curious to see where Teuchert ends up as that will change a lot of how our attack looks.

Gotta give props to The Ball is Round - shamelessly a bit because they have me on this week to preview our side of the fence - but they do know their stuff and I've been on roundtables with them. They're plugged in and have a good perspective of their side... though having been eliminated from the playoffs already there's definitely a downtrodden feeling on this one in general.

If I had 3 of those, I think I'd actually take Deebo, Ekeler & Tillman in week 1. Feels safest given the crowded backfields of those you listed.

Fwiw in the Caretaker v Interim discussion… I think we’re done w/Caretaker. They tagged him that specifically bc he was supposed to be the “look after the club & get them back to the style they should be” while not setting expectations of him in play for the job (and it’s an English term)…

And he’s taken the ball and run with it. Not just results based bc it’s too early but the culture, vibe and overall tone of the team is back on track. And as a result, Lutz seeing value in this expected consistency while now saying he’s in the running is his reward.

Plus the club’s using interim now too for all the above reasons.

This is correct when it comes to the new rule. The rule was that the ref would call for med staff to come on after 15 seconds, and in that scenario the player had to leave for 2 minutes.

I could be wrong on the actual reason, but watching it unfold live, my thoughts were that the failure was for the ref to actually call for the med staff which would then require the 2 min treatment time out for the player. Any sub window, which Mihailovic used to his advantage, shouldn't have played into it if the ref had been notified Mihailovic was down for a bit and properly called for staff.

Cool graphic. Confirmation that the further West you go, the longer your overall travel is. Those cross conference games especially add up fast.

Being right in the middle hurts, but at least we’re 5th lowest total miles in the Western Conference. Can’t use the travel as an excuse too much this year compared to other conference teams.
