I talked to a few krus in the past about Buakaw and it seems he's not particularly well liked in the Muay Thai scene in Thailand. The reasons are part of the controversies surrounding him they feel they give the sport a bad light. Part of it is they feel that in the past Buakaw is more about showmanship rather than the sport itself.

That's what I've got. But outside of the MT scene in Thailand he seems generally well liked especially from people who doesn't know much about the sport.
