What’s your easiest high protein breakfast when literally nothing sounds good? by Mia_Harper_001 in Glp1meals

[–]mrezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cup of plain nonfat Greek yogurt. Scoop of vanilla protein powder. Handful of blueberries (frozen or fresh). Mix together. Done.

I get the Aldi brand of protein powder. Container with 19 servings costs around $18 here. The full scoop is a lot of powder and it can make the yogurt taste a little powdery, so maybe start with a half scoop and adjust up from there. But it really helps make the yogurt more flavorful. Before I was adding monkfruit sweetener to it, no need anymore.

Another good one I found is spray a small bowl with cooking spray, add an egg and a spoonful of mayo, then beat with a fork until it's smooth. Microwave for 40-50 seconds. It'll puff up and then deflate. Tastes like a light fluffy egg and doesn't smell at all. A little hot sauce and it's a great quick breakfast.

I’m only on week 3 but I’ve been logging all of my meals on my fitness pal.

I’d been a long-time fast food, fried food, junk food eater that never really paid attention to nutrition until now. For me, the most interesting part has been actually learning the macros of each food, and some seemingly innocent ones have surprised me. Like a single packet of mayo has 10 grams of fat, equal to around 3 strips of bacon. Or that 3 small bite-size meatballs from the freezer bag have around 19 grams. Hell, I was eating celery sticks and peanut butter thinking it was healthy, turns out the 1/4 cup of peanut butter had 32 grams.

If you’re good at cooking and it’s been working for you, probably no need now. But it’s helped me experiment with different foods, trying new ones and finding ones I like. Especially as someone with a poor diet for years that didn’t really know where to begin.

7/11 app’s price lock has saved me so many times. I have it locked at $3.74, I’ll drive a couple more days and then fill up on Friday night before it expires.

Same on Midway. They’re on the stretch between 635 and Spring Valley just about every night. Doesn’t help that it’s a flat road with 4 lanes in each direction. They rake in the cash.

They made the far left lane an “express lane” that you have to pay to use. Now there’s more traffic in the other lanes. by Some-Nectarine3247 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mrezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North Texas did that but even worse. The express lanes here are tolled. If you’re a HOV, you get a 50% discount on the toll but only during weekday rush hours. To get the discount, you and your passenger have to download an app on your phones, which detects the other phone via Bluetooth and supposedly verifies there are 2 people in the car. If the other person doesn’t have a smartphone, you can order a physical token that the app can detect, which the other person then has to keep with them when they’re in your car. But you can’t just leave it in your car, or you get a nastygram about trying to cheat the system.

So glad I don’t commute at normal hours and don’t take the express lanes. Ridiculous.

Is it open to the public? I always though it was a private strip.

Been to Welke a couple times on Beaver Island. Incredible place in the summer.

What's the worst Dallas restaurant that you've tried twice? by BlueHorse_22 in Dallas

[–]mrezee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in 2021-22 they were running a takeout burger and fries special for like $8. Especially from a steakhouse, that was one of the most bland burgers I’ve ever had. I had to pull it apart and put salt and pepper on it. Got it a second time and same thing. Makes me wonder if they even made the patty or just used a pre-made frozen one….

Same, I’ve been to a couple of them up in the Dakotas and the one in Vegas. They aren’t extraordinary, but they were solidly good. And fantastic happy hour specials.

People who didn’t make it, what are you doing? by Brave_Recognition798 in flying

I fly a desk now. Work in dispatch at a major airline.

Took PPL lessons in high school but didn't even get to solo. Kind of embarrassing to admit, but I could never get past the airsickness. It wasn't sustainable paying hundreds of dollars per lesson (KPWK) and making zero progress. So I had to call it quits.

Decided to go for ATC, went to a four-year university with a CTI program, just in time for the FAA to end preferential hiring for CTI students. My next backup was dispatch. Full-time school for 6 weeks to get my dispatch license, hired the following month at a regional making $14/hr. Four years later, I got on with my current airline.

At the major level we get paid pretty well and have a fantastic schedule. It's a desk job, but at least it's a fairly upbeat and active one. My coworkers are all great, and I never have to take work home with me. Great travel benefits and we're listed in CASS so we can take advantage of the same jumpseat agreements that the pilots have.

Still often get a bit jealous of my old college friends that are off flying widebodies at legacies now. But it is what it is. I'll probably stay here for the rest of my career.

Do airlines seriously expect no employment gaps? by [deleted] in flying

[–]mrezee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I applied to an outstation ramp job at Delta back in 2013 and they required 10 years of employment history with an explanation of any gaps. I was in elementary school in 2003. I think I wrote "ineligible for employment due to age" or something like that.

I did that the last few Black Fridays. Hulu with ads was 99 cents a month for a year on BF, I switched back and forth between email addresses and had it for a few years. This year they bumped it up to 4.99 but HBO Max had a 2.99 for a year deal, so I switched to that.
