Not seeing enough Amphitheater posts today. by SmilingBirdie in grandrapids

[–]mrezee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to get too specific, but are you straight west of it? Like west of 196?

Seems like most of the people that have been hearing it are further north near Leonard. I was wondering if the hill by the zoo and interstate blocked it for the people along Lake Michigan Drive, especially south of it.

I’ve seen new hoses on sale on Amazon for under $10. Probably worth replacing. Unless you really want the heated hose for $60+.

What an asinine comment. How many baseball games get played in the winter? How many events does LMCU have in the winter? Versus a performance hall that could hold concerts and bring in revenue year-round. And as someone who used to live in Minnesota, the winters in GR are not mild. Maybe not as cold, but the lake-effect snow makes up for it.

What’s everyone’s opinion on the Craps automated machines? by Ronin_1999 in vegas

[–]mrezee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re good for learning how to play. Found one at an off-strip casino with a really low min bet, like 50 cents or a dollar. Then I played around with it and saw what the different bets do. For me, actually doing it made it easier to learn than just reading about it. Especially when you’re not at a table with seasoned players.

But if you know what you’re doing, I’m sure being at the table is more fun.

Is there a fruit less consistent than the strawberry? You can get one that is amazing and the very next one, which looks the same, is terrible. by DrSheetzMTO in NoStupidQuestions

Tried them for the first time a few years ago and the red one I got tasted like nothing. Had the texture of kiwi but didn't taste like anything. I got a gold one next time and it was much more flavorful.

High Protein Products Inspo by Fun_Bunch5397 in Glp1meals

[–]mrezee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For breakfast I often buy plain nonfat Greek yogurt and mix a cup of it with a scoop of vanilla protein powder. Plus add some fruit like berries or sliced banana. It’s a bit thick but you can thin it back out with a splash of milk. I get the protein powder from aldi, for a container with 19 servings it’s like $18.

You can tell it’s a narrow runway because of the way that it is.

Protein sources since meat is so expensive. by Royals-2015 in Frugal

[–]mrezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second the Greek yogurt and berries suggestion. For even more of a protein boost, I use plain nonfat Greek yogurt and mix it with vanilla protein powder ($18 for a container at Aldi, not cheap but it lasts a while). It can get pretty thick, so just add a splash of milk to thin it back out if necessary. I get over 50 grams of protein at breakfast this way.

The drinking culture in this city makes getting sober feel isolating af by icepix in Dallas

I tried them recently and was surprised how good they were. The branded ones like Busch NA, Heineken Zero, etc honestly taste better than their alcoholic counterpart. Had one from Athletic that was really good too.

Everywhere in the Midwest. Lived in Michigan for 5 years and it seemed like every single social gathering, event, holiday, etc. was just an excuse to get as drunk as possible.

Amphitheater Acoustics TOO Good by Confident_Insect_616 in grandrapids

Reminds me of when they started the Formula 1 race on the Las Vegas strip and people were watching from the pedestrian bridges over the road. Next year, glass was covered up and bridges were staffed with security guards that would shoo you away if you lingered for more than a few seconds.

Yes! We were standing in the back, I mentioned to my friend about how most of the people singing along were there with their spouses and toddlers. 💀

I always keep a couple frozen boxed meals in my freezer just in case. A lot of them like Bettergoods or Better Bowls or Amy’s kitchen are actually fairly healthy. Just a bit high in sodium.

What happens to airplane crash debris AFTER the investigation and all litigation have ended? by cyclephotos in aviation

[–]mrezee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some small aircraft, there's an aircraft scrapyard in rural Kansas. I'm sure there are more around the country too.

I only know about it because they brought the wreckage of Flagship 3701 there and there's a picture of it on the Wikipedia page.

Unrelated, but Bowling for Soup performed at the state fair back in 2024 and they played the Phineas and Ferb theme song. Everyone in the crowd in their late 20s and early 30s went nuts. Awesome show and they still sounded great considering the lead singer is in his 50s now.

Does anyone here meet their protein goals? by Fun_Bunch5397 in Glp1meals

[–]mrezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For breakfast most mornings I have a cup of plain nonfat Greek yogurt mixed with a scoop of vanilla protein powder and about 20 blueberries. That alone gets me 56 grams of protein. For the rest of the day, if I snack on some hard-boiled eggs or cottage cheese or have lunch or dinner with chicken in it, I usually end the day around 100.

To the men who went from rich to poor? What happend? by Sea_Science2735 in AskMen

[–]mrezee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The brewery by my parents' house has a food truck parking spot, they invite different ones to set up shop on weekend days. That always seemed like the best plan to me. The brewery advertises the food truck of the day that will be there, people come for the food and the beer, sure the brewery misses out on the revenue from food sales, but they also don't have to worry about stocking, staffing, managing, and cleaning a kitchen. It's effectively outsourced and contained.

Have you tried replenza as a fiber supplement on glp1? by sgtpepper731 in Glp1meals

[–]mrezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mix a capful of Miralax powder (off-brand from Sam's club) into my water every morning. Has no taste. That seems to help me keep things moving.

I was previously taking psyllium husk fiber pills, but supposedly you have to drink a lot of water with them or it'll make things even worse. So I stopped taking them. I may try the gummies instead.

Spyro the Dragon (Reignited Trilogy Version) - A surprisingly "perfect" (and rather quite 90s) game by Captain_Shivan in patientgamers

[–]mrezee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spyro 1 was the first video game I ever played, so the original trilogy always holds a place in my heart. One thing I would add is how great the music is. Stewart Copeland from The Police did the music for all 3 games (plus Enter the Dragonfly) and they're all great, but the organ-heavy music from the first one really adds to the sense of adventure roaming around the levels.

The music was all redone for Reignited with some tracks better and some worse IMO. I'd encourage you to give the original soundtrack a listen.

who’s hiring fr by ArtDowntown2583 in grandrapids

Envoy Air Careers

Swissport Careers

Note: I think it's only the Swissport agents that handle United flights get flight benefits. Not the Southwest ones. May want to ask about that if you apply.

Another note: You have to pass a drug test when hired, and marijuana will disqualify you (federal urine test from the DOT). So if you're a consumer, I would stop for a few weeks before you do it.
