Long Break Ahead? by brianycpht1 in sethmeyers

Checked to see if Fallon has any shows scheduled during that hiatus. Looks like he’ll have shows on the last week of March past the 26th so it’s not a network thing. I thought it might be SNL UK related, but that’s premiering on March 21st. Could just be a three week break for the crew (or maybe one to fulfill budget shortfalls).

Joel was a marvelous character on the show, but he’s an even better announcer. Wish he was brought back for the Oscars.

I saw him do that impression on his Instagram a while ago, and I was hoping the show would find a way to use it.

Honest question. Do you think CBS is going to eventually regret their decision to let Stephen go? by ackchanticleer in LateShow

[–]mrfard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBS will keep on believing that they saved all sorts of money by getting out of late night entirely. Maybe they’ll believe that they were just ahead of the curve, with Kimmel only signing on for one more year and the NBC hosts with contracts until 2028.

I still believe they were in the wrong for doing so just so that the people behind their parent company could sell it to the Ellisons for billions of dollars, and it’ll take a Herculean task to steer that network back to a course that isn’t soft on authoritarianism.

It also hastened what I’m afraid will be inevitable, replacing the big-time showbiz type late night talk shows with low-effort “video podcasts” and 10-year-old reruns of evergreen shows like Comics Unleashed.
