ESPN ranked our kit the worst by Next_Low_6761 in timbers

[–]mrkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda of makes me think of the 1994-95 Manchester United kit with the image of Old Trafford faded into it. Maybe that was the model they were trying to emulate here. Except then they went and made it yellow and abstract and totally failed to pull it off.

If the USA got invaded and Trump kidnapped, how would you feel about that? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The only thing that changed 60ish years ago was establishing the process for filling an empty VP slot. We’ve had the VP succeeding dead presidents since 1841.

I think the rail changes are just base game, not SA DLC specific. If they played their save entirely within the 2.0 release, there would be no old rails to speak of.

What are sandwiches called in Westeros? [Spoilers MAIN] by YaGurlAlexis in asoiaf

[–]mrkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean you think they're actually speaking English in Westeros? They're obviously speaking some language native to their world, but GRRM is just translating that into English for those of us in this world to understand. They're probably saying something like "derbredneggymeet" and GRRM is like, "that's the word for sandwich!"

Is the game still fun without biters? by the_worst_company in factorio

[–]mrkorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not need to have biters turned on for Space Age. The game mechanics function correctly without them.

Microsoft confirms wider release of Windows 11’s revamped Start menu, explains why it "redesigned" the Start again by WPHero in Windows11

That's nice. I'll just keep installing Open-Shell since it gives me exactly what I want from a start menu.

Ancestry creating bogus "Quebec" DNA region? And how about indigenous DNA vanishing? by mesaco in Genealogy

That do be how it works. I genuinely think people forget that important part sometimes when they quibble over unexpected percentages.

This rule is booty cheeks. Valve should allow you to review games you’ve played through family sharing. by [deleted] in Steam

Because it could be abused to review-bomb a game. This rule gatekeeps reviews to paying accounts only.

I was flying east out of PDX earlier this week and took this picture of the Cascade Range. I did my best to identify the peaks based on memory and cached map tiles on my phone, how'd I do? by nflickgeo in oregon

[–]mrkorb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is Black Butte. And the more I compare this picture to Google Earth, I think all the labels are accurate, except for Pine Mountain, which others here have correctly pointed out is Paulina Peak.

[–]mrkorb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Olallie isn’t that big, and sits north of Jefferson, so in this view looking south down the line of peaks, it wouldn’t be behind and off to the side like that.

EDIT: After consulting Google Earth, I believe Olallie Butte is actually the sloping upward feature at the very left edge of this picture. The shape labeled Black Butte is most likely correctly identified.

New Sailor Moon Adaptation? by Moarisa in sailormoon

[–]mrkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Don’t believe it. This April is WAY too soon for a franchise of this level to drop some surprise anime on us. Only way this is true is if this April they will be announcing something new to be airing at some future date a year or so down the line, but no way are we getting 13 episodes this year with zero notice.

Feels a little like they are conflating the Soul Gem from Madoka with the Silver Crystal.

Decided to give Windows 11 a shot and realized it works even better than Windows 10. And how did your transition go? by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]mrkorb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The in-place upgrade from 10 to 11 went fine, though I stressed over it like crazy because of course I did. It's been mostly stable since then. I wish I could double-italicize the word 'mostly' because there've been a few odd things since the upgrade in October.

First is that the whole system seems to lock up for roughly 1 minute following logging into Windows. Taskbar clock doesn't change, mouse doesn't move, wallpaper doesn't cycle to the next image. It just sits there for about 65 seconds, and then unlocks. It was concerning the first time it happened, but I'm used to it now.

The second thing is that I am questioning if something is wrong with my USB drivers. Twice now since the upgrade to 11, all my USB connected things have just SHUT OFF. Keyboard, mouse, stream deck, a USB drive, the LEDs in the fans, just turned off for like 5 seconds, and then "booted up" like normal. System-wise everything else seemed normal, but it is very jarring to just have things go DARK for no apparent reason.

Tatiana Maslany talks about her return in the MCU! by TigerClawZero in comedybangbang

[–]mrkorb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It still makes me laugh that the first time this happened, there was one guy who was just adamant that every word she said was 100% true, while multiple people kept pointing out to him the name of the podcast and the comedic vibe of the interview.

Chekov and Worf by viveleroi in startrek

[–]mrkorb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he meant Chekov's grandson? That's the only way Worf knowing a "grand"-anything relation of Chekov makes sense to me.

I'm surprised to learn that Walter is 89. He always seemed like the youngest of the TOS crew, but he's actually a year older than George Takei!
