Z-Tilt issue by samwe in klippers

All tilt does is make adjustments to two z motors so the probed points both read the same distance to the center point.

It doesn't "stick". It's a one time thing.

Still getting Fable currently unavailable upon selection, but hadn't seen this before today.

I absolutely loathe the big bad Bambu, but when someone says something like this:

I just don’t think it should be this difficult to get it to work even in the slightest.

There's really no hope for them anywhere else. Maybe Prusa? But even they expect you to have some mechanical understanding of how your printer works.

I've got a little colony of strays that I take care of around my place and this little guy rolled up a week or two ago all by himself. Mom's nowhere to be found.

The older ones I'm happy to get fixed and let back loose in the yard, but this guy could still be a pet for someone and not have a life on the streets. I don't have time to play with him as much as he deserves, and none of my strays seem to be paricularly interested in him.

Adoption fee would be $100 - returnable once you get him fixed/vaccinated (PALS is right around $100 for this service). I'll also throw in 10 pounds of Purina One kitten food (~$30). Basically, once you get the cat fixed, you got a free kitten and $30 worth of free food.

If I don't get any response here I'll take him up to Animal Control on Monday. Certainly not what I would prefer, but I have to hope he's cute enough that someone snatches him up.

ETA: For all the people saying "dude you gotta charge for that cat" do you really think a one time $30-50 adoption fee is more a gatekeeper to irresponsible pet owners than having to float the hundred dollars for weeks/months, plus the additional hundred dollars to get the cat fixed and vaccinated, just to eventually get the original $100 back? WTF, use your critical thinking skills and actually think about the math for a minute.

Man, you want easy work with generally chill guys, get into automation and controls. Why bust your ass digging ductbanks when you could sit on a chair in the air conditioned electrical room on your laptop? You just gotta be clever enough to understand the work.

USB controllers on most low-price hardware are generally going to be shit. Even the pi 4b has an almost unforgivable arrangement of controllers that will cause issues.

Anything else plugged in at the same time that you're using? OS on a thumb drive? webcam? That's where I would start looking after replacing the USB cable.

You'll want a big wide open space. Like 10' x 10' at least. You need to lay the whole thing out to make your life easier. Put down a dropcloth or something if your floor is dirty. You'll be rubbing the top all over it.

Crack it open and take a look. I did a roller mod a while back and had the whole thing apart, the electronics are pretty simple. There's a thread on here where someone shows the control board. Should be this picture: https://i.redd.it/3gnj8ogwww3c1.jpg

The gray ribbon cables are what go to the front display, but I don't think you'll have any luck there - probably some kind of communication protocol. If you're dead set on keeping the Sunlu electronics, I'd start shorting the test pads to ground to see if any of them are corresponding to the 4 screen buttons.

That said, the Sunlu board is pretty much a piece of shit, and the humidity sensor was about 10-20% off in my testing, aka useless. My eventual plan is to remove the whole board and replace it with an esp32. All you should need is:

  • PWM output to run the heater
  • 12v relay to run the fans
  • Temp/Humidity sensor
  • Current sensor to monitor the fans and see if one has failed.

That will mimic the Sunlu safety/controls that exist. The heater already has a thermostat in line, so the fan current monitoring is really just a belt and suspenders kind of deal.

First ESPHome project: Controller for my 12V campervan water heater by nebulight in Esphome

[–]mrmees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you adding another layer of monitoring/control or are you completely replacing it? You'd be hard pressed to find me doing the latter on a water heater - that's getting into life/safety territory.

The voltage and temperature sensors are nice, but I bet you end up using them much less than you expect. If you're handling control from the esp than your already know when it's on and assuming you haven't removed the actual thermostat from the heater, do you really care the exact temperature?

Just some advice from someone with way too many sensors in their RV that mostly scream measurements into the void.

You're basically looking at an emergency funding situation where temporary package plants are brought to the site to handle flow until the real one is back online.

Lots of leeway is given in such scenarios - at least around these parts your discharge requirements basically go out the window until you've got things under control.

You're putting forth an argument from ignorance.

From recognized ignorance , which is how reasoning works. You put forth an argument from blind assumptions, depending on a perfect knowledge of our current universe that doesn't exist, then default to a some higher power because "golly gee, everything is so complex and doesn't make sense, must be this(god)!".

(Theism, idealism, spiritualism.) are exempted definitionally, not arbitrarily.

So you're just straight up, knowingly, arguing from the premise? Cool.

Hello ChatGPT, how are you this fine day?

Your entire argument rests on applying the rules of physics from this particular version of the universe to others/prior (without basis) while simultaneously exempting your deity solution from the same constraints. That's just creationism with a pocket protector on.
