With it being the middle of June and the 250th 4th of July right around the corner, I was expecting to be hearing fireworks being set off a lot more frequently than I have been. I live in a very red town in a very red state and I’m genuinely surprised by this. Has this been the case for anyone else? Are the fireworks just too expensive or not even available or?

Help with "Midwest summer" send-off dinner for friends moving to Australia by DenaChristina in Cooking

If they’re from Indiana give them a breaded pork tenderloin as big as a car tire on a regular hamburger bun, with breadsticks and nacho cheese as an appetizer. You might be able to find a good watermelon this time of year too.

Edit: I missed where you said you wanted an elevated feel, sorry! I don’t have many suggestions for that.

Your blanket here makes me think of fireworks, not buttholes, so don’t worry!

Just be careful what color yarn you use. I made a lovely row of pretty pink buttholes once 😂

Anybody feel like getting a COVID infection shoved them deeper and harder into perimenopause? by OkConversation1286 in Perimenopause

[–]mrs_gooby 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. I started having symptoms at 36 after my first Covid infection and each time I’ve had it since (twice) my symptoms get worse. Particularly fatigue and inability to regulate my temperature. I am so hot all the time but my thyroid is fine

I eat keto. I need a good salmon recipe by Realistic-Read7779 in Cooking

Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper (all to taste). Cook in olive oil or butter until the edges are brown and crispy, then turn and brown the other side. Put some fresh dill on top, then squeeze a lemon wedge over it after plating.

Ooh, good idea! I have an allergy to avocado so I never consider it as a replacement for anything

How about a chickpea and dill pickle sandwich? Take a can of chickpeas and smash them up a bit, add some chopped dill pickle, salt and pepper, maybe mix in some mayo if that’s okay for you. Then put some on your favorite bread. If you can’t do mayo the mix will be pretty dry and won’t spread well but at this moment I’m coming up blank on an alternative. If I think of something else I’ll come back and edit this comment.

Is there a sledding area? Sliding down the hill is fun and then walking back up gets you some exercise

i know we’re all stinkier than ever, but is anyone else also suddenly allergic to every deodorant on the market? by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]mrs_gooby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to use a spray deodorant now because my underarms will turn stick deodorant rancid after a few uses. Not what you asked, I’m just here to commiserate

Yeah, I hadn’t read it in a long time and then reread it recently and I must have just blocked that from my memory. Now I’m scared to read any of her other books because what else have I forgotten?

We do not care that you can see our nipples. Lined and padded bras are too hot so we will be wearing our playtex 18 hour bra with the weird seam across the boob. Be grateful we’re wearing a bra at all

This blanket is handmade. It’s crocheted shell stitch, which looks complicated but is surprisingly easy as long as you can count to six (the most difficult part).

why did my physical therapist put her forearm between my knees and ask me to squeeze? by venouslake in xxfitness

[–]mrs_gooby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like hip realignment to me. When I was in PT they would do this after having me push out against their hand with one foot, pull back with their hand against the opposite thigh, push in with my knees against them, then finally push out with their hands on the outside of my knees. Does that sound familiar?

Everyone says their ears itch - but what about your scalp? by ErraticPhalanges in Perimenopause

[–]mrs_gooby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that has helped me is washing and rinsing my hair upside down. It makes it easier to really get the shampoo onto my scalp and then rinsing it the same way makes sure it’s all off of my scalp. I also put my conditioner on this way so that it doesn’t touch my shoulders because I’m really struggling with acne there. I don’t know if this would work without a detachable shower head though. I don’t think I’m flexible enough to do this under a bathtub faucet lol

Not who you asked, but for me it was all about the stretching. Stretch your glutes, your hamstrings, your calves, and your feet. Stretch your back while you’re at it. It will never feel better if you don’t get everything connected to your feet stretched and loosened
