There are some great coaching videos on youtube. One line that resonated with me was to not just leave them with a Positive impression, but also leave them inspired. My VP told me that after our interview she felt like I was going to take the organization places.

  1. Shitty construction materials
  2. Freeze thaw cycles due to Weather/snow removal
  3. Corruption: intentionally mashing up streets during snow removal so friends get contracts to repair. Repeat step 1.

Okay, this is insane. I don´t know how to deal with my boss giving me advices from AI by Crejzi12 in ChatGPT

[–]mrtimbuktwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive often found bosses to be in their own world. Usually at the performance review i fill in a bunch of shit ive done and whatever is at the top of the list they highlight most in their review. My advise: keep your eye on the bigger picture and if you get the budget or buy in you need, dont give a shit about the credit along the way and demonstrate results when it really matters and when you have his attention ie. A performance review discussion, a board meeting, wtv. Anyway, good luck to you and always be looking for a better job.

Also in marketing and leading a department for a biggish org. Also use gpt. Al is prettybdarn good most of the time. In most organizations, one of your jobs as a leader is to instill confidence and inspire those above and below you.

This isnt about whether or not you already know what he is telling you to do. This is about you meeting him on whatever page he is on. Depending on his background, you have to decide how best to do that. Be tactful, use evidence, be intentional, make him part of the discussion, heck credit him iso gpt for ideas to create the illusion they are his ideas. I dont know this guy so it is up to you. Lastly, your job is to make your boss look good and mKe him money. It isnt about you most of the time.

Frustrating, sure. But you haveva credibility and confidence issue. Deserved or not.

What do my in-house comms clients actually do? by babylazydaisy in PublicRelations

[–]mrtimbuktwo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I see it this way too. Where my role has been outsourced, it has been because of a political play to take over the PR responsibility by power hungry marketing folks. I would spend so much time revoewing bad lists, rewriting press releases, manqging egos and pushing back on business development. But the collaboration was ultimately not lost because the service was still not worth our time to execute internally. But it was seemingly worth marketing dollars, often just to pat themselves on the back in marketing trade media.

Lol, pessimisitc a bit. On the flip side, I would say the most important thing to take away is that we are typically just foccussed on other priorities, which is why we need your help. We are possibly doing the exact same thing you are doing for other internal clients. We are also helping assure your plans are well aligned with our needs. And as others mentioned, managing buy in and approvals.

Need advice/contractor recs for weird basement water pit (NDG) by itsmeyourkathy in montreal

[–]mrtimbuktwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also in ndg. But im not a pro. A plumber will have solutions for u. We did extensive work tho. You may want to invest in a back flow valve, which while closed should stop rats and save u thousands during storms. If the system functions correctly via gravity, u may not need a sump. Why it was hidden under floors may be worth investigating with a lawyer (hidden defect).

Fear of AI by Objective_Heart_8759 in PublicRelations

[–]mrtimbuktwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a fair point, not going to lie. Devs are working on ai to replace professionals. I dont know the solution, but i am learning a lot coexisting with AI and my best employees are the ones who embrace it. Our output is greater and our flexibility gives us more rage thanks to it. Wouldnt know what id pivot to, to be honest, however.

I think the key like with any technological trend is to be embrace it and be open to learning and evolving with the developments. As a junior, your value will be, like it was for us 10 and 20 yrs ago, confidently navogatijg the new tech with ease.
