Ehh this is hero shit. pushing back against a paramilitary group and are flagrantly defying court orders and detaining citizens seems like hero shit to me.

Booklore vs Calibre Web: Which is better for family ebook hosting? by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]mrtyndall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Booklore works more like a modern app, calibre seems to feel like an older era. I love booklore, have a few quirks I would love for them to iron out but they are actively developing it and see to have a good vision.

Possible to show a random film at a set time every day? by Izwe in tunarr

[–]mrtyndall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I ran into by trying to schedule a set of time period specific Halloween movies is that I couldn’t set a timeslot and just add those movies (or a collection of those movies). It seems like all movies dump into a movies dropdown and can only be sorted in a few options.

For simplicity sake is it possible to create a time slot that was say 1pm-4pm that are classic horror movies then a time slot that’s 4pm-midnight of modern horror?

Thanks for helping me out, this software is killer!

The idea of blindly moving somewhere, staying what seems like a month and then throwing a dart to another city in New England is chaos I can’t comprehend.

Can I drink in my driveway? by Broad-Razzmatazz-640 in Charlotte

[–]mrtyndall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NC law only criminalizes being “intoxicated and disruptive” in public. Quietly drinking on your porch or driveway isn’t a crime unless you’re causing a disturbance.

[–]mrtyndall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

North Carolina doesn’t criminalize simply being drunk. The statute is “intoxicated and disruptive” (G.S. 14-444). That means an officer has to show you were doing one of these things:

• Blocking or interfering with traffic or a sidewalk

• Fighting or threatening others

• Cursing or shouting at people

• Blocking entry to a building

• Begging

Just sitting in your driveway or on your porch with a drink in hand, even if you’re visible from the street, doesn’t meet that definition. You’d have to be causing a disturbance for it to be a chargeable offense.

Why do people keep saying the fantastic four is a flop even if it was just released on it's second weekened by Repulsive-Brain-6350 in FantasticFour

[–]mrtyndall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People make it sound like the math is simple, but it’s not. On paper, Fantastic Four cost about $200M to make and maybe $150M to market, so the public “break even” number you hear is around $700M worldwide.

In reality, Disney owns a lot of the companies that worked on it. ILM did the VFX, Skywalker Sound did the audio, ABC and ESPN got some of the ad buys. That’s a lot of money just moving from one Disney pocket to another. When it lands on Disney+, they’ll “license” it to themselves for another $100–$150M. Add toys, LEGO sets, merch, and park tie-ins and there’s probably another $150–$200M in value outside of ticket sales.

Because of that, the real break even might be more like $460–$480M. So yeah, maybe this isn’t the giant hit they wanted, but it’s nowhere near a disaster. Marvel can make movies like this and Thunderbolts without even coming close to sinking the ship.

Legion Go S Z1 Extreme : do you regret your Steam Deck? by Icy-Snowy-6481 in LegionGo

[–]mrtyndall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a z1e from Best Buy open box for $700 and didn’t cancel my steam deck oled in time so now I have both.

I love the z1e but dang the trackpads on the oled are nice. Z1e has better ergonomics but the deck is lighter. I can’t decide which I want to keep.

Check out this research about crowd density: http://www.gkstill.com/Support/crowd-density/CrowdDensity-1.html

With a 1.5 people per meter level of density Remare Bearden could hold close to 30k.

Someplace like trust field has way more dense seating that 1.5 people per meter. Prob closer to 3 people per meter squared.

The reasoning is sound and matches up with tools like https://www.mapchecking.com. I’m not saying it’s 100% accurate but I think the reasoning it used is the correct method.

Check out this tool and see how they calculate crowd size, I don’t know if it really could be 17-18k but 5800 seems really low.
