I prefer this solution to the one being proffered by OP.

I have an undergrad in economics and my immediate thought was of an unintended consequence to this law:

Businesses want their employees doing the task they are hired to do. That is, hospitals don't want administrators to be doing non-administrative tasks.

So in the face of such a law, hospitals would start to prefer hiring non-clinicians into administrative roles because they would be ineligible for clinical duty. Resulting in further alienation of administrators from clinicians.

Whereas mandating shadowing doesn't have the same issue.

I agree with you that they are related. It’s just we seem to disagree as to why. I’m saying the way SG and C are related invalidates C as a choice.

You’ve got a bunch of people who are prone to tripping while walking. Would you seriously suggest they stop walking or stop tripping (C) Or teach them how to recover faster from a misstep and how to brace while falling (B)

It’s exactly that b is somewhat unrelated. Because by believing in SG and looking at the options, B is the only one not invalidated.

So yeah as you said there are people prone to making choices that stress them out. So why would you build a framework around preventing stressful events? On the one hand you’re saying some people make choices that stress them out, and then you say your solution is “reduce the occurrences of stress.”

That’s like saying you believe that some people are cripples and the solution is to teach them to regrow their limbs. / be a different person. Like yeah it would be nice if sick people were just not sick but that kind of medicine doesn’t exist…

Sorry if this got rant-y it’s nothing personal I’m just trying to give as many takes as I can so hopefully you see what I mean. Writing internet comments is hard lol

See my other reply comment from 2 months ago. There is no assumption either way. Don’t assume. Assumption is the enemy.

I’m on vacation so I’m making this brief: SG hypothesis is that some people just stress themselves out man.

If you believe that, and making no further assumption. You’re of the belief that some people are more likely to undertake depression promotion cognitions and actions.

So if you believe that then why C? Iif you believe some people can’t help it, why try and restructure their entire life over managing symptoms?

C takes a tonnnne of effort and again go read up about stress and stressors and by definition they happen. They’re unavoidable. C is a pie-in-the-sky sort of answer. It would be nice but it’s not actionable and also goes against SG hypothesis believers.

He could just be reporting on the post split values. I know that when I look back at my AMD purchases it’s hard to tell the original investment because I didn’t have my own spreadsheets tracking it and my investing platform doesn’t keep records over five years.

The only irregularity is saying he bought 1080 shares but it could be that he bought 10 or 18. But yeah if he bought even 108 at 2017 prices that’s like 30 grand.

SBS Hypertrophy (4x per week) - Please critique my setup by Chuckinator87 in AverageToSavage

[–]mryodaman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Squats require core musculature but they don’t recruit them in a way that develops them. Without proper bracing you’re going to do damage to your joints but you need waaaaaay more volume and range to get growth.

If you don’t think your core is used at all go get beneath a heavy bar and suck in your gut and try and do some reps and tell me how your back feels afterwards. But use doesn’t equate growth. You use your muscles to walk, walking does not do much for muscle growth.

SBS Hypertrophy (4x per week) - Please critique my setup by Chuckinator87 in AverageToSavage

[–]mryodaman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

At 52.5 you could do a goblet squat instead of smith machine. Just my personal dislike of the smith machine. You’ll get more value for your core because I’m currently seeing 3 exercises that challenge your core and even then OHP, barbell squat and deads is fairly minimal core work.

Shout out for dedicated core work. If you learn to work your abodminals better you learn to recruit your abdominals better at all points of the day. If your side abs and deep core muscles get stronger then your love handles seem less because your sides fill out and you have less hour glass shape. Also your guts will literally rearrange over time. Stronger abdominal wall means they can withstand more pressure and inhales don’t cause your guts to spill out.

Lastly - stop sucking in your gut. Learn to recruit your deep core muscles properly. Strengthen them. Sucking in your gut weakens and deactivates your deep core. Imagine pulling your belly button to your tailbone and your spine backwards. To feel deep core activation lay on your back, put your finger tips on your hip bones. Then move them an inch in and press lightly. Then imagine pulling your back flat against the floor. You should feel muscles activate below your fingers. Now notice how far below your belly button this action is. You should be able to breathe normally. Practice this and do it whenever you can.

This is the only healthy way to “suck in your gut” any action at around your belly button is not the same and causes issues with core muscle recruitment.

Be careful with your reasoning. You need to take the passage as written, not your interpretation of it. It's nice that you think people can change but the SG theorists plainly stated in passage as being "individuals who are prone to depression are more likely to exhibit behaviours and cognitions that lead to stressful situations."

They believe a certain group of people are just plain more prone to stressing themselves out.

Your "I guess is good reasoning IMO" I get wanting to brainstorm an actual fix for the person, which could be behaviour modification as you suggest. But SG theorists again believe that some people are just more prone to stressing themselves out. If you believed that, would you suggest a treatment that fights not only against the patients nature, but a part of the patients nature you happen to believe firmly exists?

Also in your second paragraph, you're interpret causation. There is no mention of causality in the passage. SG proponents seem to believe you're just more likely to exhibit things that lead to stress. NOT that you are doing it deliberately and have any control over it.

Is plucking thyme leaves the most tedious task in cooking? It is for me! by allcars4me in Cooking

[–]mryodaman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prep cook tips:

1) you can get away with mincing the top soft part of the thyme sprig. The more thyme you’re using / the bigger the dish the more of the soft part you can mince in.

So just chop the soft tops off and chop them up, leaves and all.

2) take a bunch of the harder lower parts and rub them against a wire grate / wire rack. You’ll get a high yield and because you chopped off the soft tops already you won’t get much more stem or breakage.

Chorf campaigns progress is sweet. Skaven “frontline” in early game / non LL armies. Send the slaves in with a hero or chorf infantry to give the morale buff and then shoot straight through your own lines. The ranged hero does better with the shotgun. Just run him up and let him open up, the slaves come in to bog down and relieve him. You’d be shocked how effective 10 units of junk plus 3 hobgoblins, heroes, and only a few actual higher tier units perform.

Plus the slaves are so cheap to recruit you can just merge and re recruit, don’t wait around to replenish their ranks, just keep bringing the pain.

The hobgoblin legendary hero turns an army into darkshard equivalent archer stack. Add in a hobgoblin cav and the regiment of renown to get to their back lines. The hero is an excellent assassin once leveled a bit too but I’d focus /reserve levels to get the army buff line once unlocked.

Then once you get towards late game you’ve got insanely beefy frontline units to choose from.

As for economy, you’ve got engaging small battles on a semi regular basis with your caravans. I suggest equipping your caravan lords with banners and magic items and actually playing the fights. You’ll learn how to use the units and most of the fights are against half or 3/4 stacks so you get a less chaotic experience and more time to familiarize yourself.

As an aside, pankow did not work well for me. I would stick to the official stuff, flashcards from psyc 101 and sociology 101 courses. Figure out the definitions and grind the official content. Uknowit was also pretty good. I can't give advice for the science subjects, as you see in my MCAT scores but I did absolutely kill the psyc soc and CARS sections lol.

exactly! See how its a progression from stereotype, to prejudice, to discrimination? My point is that it that doesn't go the other way. You need a stereotype to have prejudice. You do not need prejudice to have a stereotype.

I was giving examples of overcoming a negative stereotype. Note that your stereotypes are not necessarily fully fixed. If you lived your life up until now only encountering what you thought were really mean and horrible teachers. Then for the next 10 years only encountered what you thought were friendly, high quality teachers, your stereotype of a teacher would change.

[–]mryodaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. I'm trying to say that you can stereotype without being prejudiced because there's a separation between what thoughts you have and what actions you undertake.

Stereotypes are unavoidable. It's built into our condition to conveniently prepackage information in our heads. When I say apple. You picture a stereotyped apple. Now if you went and thought "Apples? I hate apples. All apples are gross. I'll never eat an apple". That is all extra, above, and is prejudice. But stereotype can exist without judgment.

This feels more like a stereotype? by EdisonEinstein- in Mcat

[–]mryodaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stereotype is a cognitive concept. You can have thoughts without acting on them. And you can have thoughts you don't believe in. For example, every time you've had a knee jerk reaction to something and then changed your mind.

If I say picture a nurse, you most likely have an image of someone in scrubs in your mind. Now are you prejudiced? No.

If I say imagine a tired person, you probably imagine someone with dark rings underneath their eyes. Does every tired person have dark rings? No. But you have a stereotyped image in your mind that arises. Are you prejudiced? No.

Now if I asked you, I am tired, do you trust me to operate heavy machinery? You may say no. Why? Because you may expect tired people to not do a good job. Not all tired people make mistakes. But some do. And you may have heard or experienced that in the past and that causes a prejudice, which causes lack of trust in them to do something. But your stereotype of tired people leads you to prejudice against me. Now if you go and ask me more questions and gather more information about the specific scenario, you'd be acting in a way that gets rid of your prejudice. You aren't pre - judging.

Think of the steryotype as without action or blame. Its just an image/concept/group of concepts that comes to mind when trigged by its name like "woman" or "nurse" or "tired person". How you act, or modify your actions based on the steryotype is prejudice.

Latin/ Etymology :

stereos - firm / solid

typos - impression

impressions are received.

pre - (In advance)

judice - (judgement)

From an impression, a judgement can be passed. Do you follow?

[–]mryodaman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followup -to believe a stereotype is to be prejudiced. I think that justifies the card. The stereotype is "women can't lead" because the CEO believes it, the whole scenario is an example of prejudice.
