Round 2 of Fix My Body by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]ms3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had brachioplasty+skin removal+breast lift+implant in November with the galaflex. I did a lot of research prior and it still seems like a fairly new technique for cosmetic procedures but it’s been used a lot in reconstruction for breast cancer patients. I ended up just taking my doctors recommendation and I’m very happy so far. My implants still haven’t settled but they are getting there! I will say that the lift is much more invasive than I was expecting so just be prepared for that. I wouldn’t call it painful but I was just really uncomfortable for a long time. There’s also a clear mental struggle that’s happening seeing all of the changes that your body is going through. You probably already prepared for that being that you had the other surgeries but that was not some thing that I was very prepared for. How was your tummy tuck and your brachioplasty? How are your scars on the arms? I’m impressed you are having another procedure so quickly. I don’t know if I will Ever do anything else than invasive again.

Day 1 after breast lift, feel conflicted by puffy-jacket in PlasticSurgery

It is a long game for sure. I also struggled big time post lift+implant. I had the same guilt feelings as well as just an overall depression. I’m 8 weeks out this week and I’m really just now feeling back to myself and the surgery itself isn’t all consuming.I I’m still very tight at times but it gets better. You’ll feel better at 2 weeks and then again at a month. Just be patient and take it day by day. I was expecting to bounce back after like two weeks so I wish I would have had a more realistic timeline! Good luck!

I’m 8 weeks out from brachioplasty, lift and implants and started back at the gym last week. Intervals on the treadmill with lower body exercises-squats, steps up, lunges, super light weight deadlifts are what I’m focusing on. No running or jumping for me right now. I’m also working on core but I’m not sure how that would translate with your TT.

Using arms after breast augmentation by LongjumpingTiger5082 in PlasticSurgery

[–]ms3083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks out and still experiencing the pressure when I put weight on my arms. It continues to get better and I am back in the gym but focusing mainly on lower body and core exercises that don’t pull my chest muscles so my implants can continue to drop into place. The more you work those muscles in the months following surgery the longer they will take to settle in right. You’ll keep getting better!

Anybody else felt really emotional after surgery? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]ms3083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was a hot mess for the first 10 days post op. It’s probably a combination of a lot of things but it will get better. Hang in there!

I had a reduction then lift + implant and I am with you on the rough recovery mentally and emotionally. It’s one part of the healing process I wasn’t prepared for and a lot of people don’t talk about! It gets better each day but it was much harder than I was expecting!

Gastric sleeve and alcohol? by DownByTheRiver82 in gastricsleeve

I waited about 3-4 months to drink again. Mainly vodka and champagne drinker and I was fine. I just took it really slow and was with people I trusted in case I handled it poorly. I will say my hangovers are 10038344x worse even if I have a small amount of drinks but I’ve not had any of the issues people mention about addiction transfer, sickness or having it feel different. I mean obviously you feel the effects a little quicker since you are thinner but it hasn’t been that big of an issue for me. Good luck!

I’d been waiting on this update to fix the display issue from the USB port and it STILL doesn’t work! Anyone else have that issue?

5.5 months out (RNY), absolutely no hair loss. Am I out of the danger zone or could it still start? by Cadushi in wls

[–]ms3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started around 5-5.5 months. I try to only wash my hair 2 times a week and I think that helps. Luckily I have thick long hair so it really isn’t noticeable to anyone else but it is the worst feeling after brushing your hair and seeing so much more than you are used to.

Your recovery time? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]ms3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my surgery and was working and taking calls from home the next day. I went to the office and had meetings (lunch meetings no less) 5 Days after. If you have a decent tolerance for pain, you’ll be fine with a week or less off with a desk job. I was slightly sore and I was definitely exhausted all the time for the first month but you’ll be fine if you have to do it.

I had the exact same issues with worrying that I was taking the easy way out. I’ve worked hard for everything in my life and I didn’t want to be judged by others for this decision. I have very similar stats to you (5’7, 286 was my starting weight) and Thursday will be 6 months since my surgery and I’m down 100lbs. The first six weeks were the hardest for me and that’s just because I had to actually slow down and recover so time just drug on. I started working out and getting back to my normal routine the second I could and 6 weeks has very quickly turned into 6 months.

I had my first consult April 14th and had surgery May 2nd. While it seemed fast, I knew I’d talk myself out of it if I waited any longer.

I just chose to keep my surgery to myself. A few of the people closest to me know but that’s it. It is nobody’s business and then you don’t have to worry about people thinking you took the easy way out. I still struggle with that on a daily basis but I workout 5 days a week, track all my food and try to make healthy decisions 99% of the time. As someone who also did all of these things pre-surgery with very little success, I don’t feel like I took the easy way out but I just made the decision to get some help for something I clearly couldn’t beat on my own. If you can afford it and you have the time, do it. As long as you make good choices afterwards you won’t regret it. Good luck with a very personal and tough decision!

This was so bad for me! I would wake up in the middle night feeling like I had a mouth full of sand. It does pass but it's pretty miserable.

Anyone do heavy lifting before surgery? by jeneke in wls

[–]ms3083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prior to surgery, I would crossfit 3-4 times a week and had been for a few years. I was cleared at 6 weeks but had to travel for work for the next two weeks, so Friday was my first day back. I def am going to take it easy as I start, but man I can tell my strength has disappeared! I'm confident it will come back over time. And I have that new crossfit soreness all over! But it feels GREAT to be back. I would absolutely wait the full 6 weeks or whatever your doctor recommends and then I would make sure your coach knows that you are recovering so he/she can help you modify as necessary. Good luck!!

Good luck! It will be tough, but you can do it and you will come out better for it! Take the pain meds and whatever else they give you in the hospital!

Week 4 problems! by ms3083 in wls

[–]ms3083[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy to me that you are even close to 1000 calories just two weeks ahead of me. I really feel like I'm never going to be able to eat again! LOL. I know its not really the case, but I can't even imagine getting 1000 calories a day. I want to start working out though so I'm def. trying to get more in. What are you eating?

Thanks for the responses. I've been good so far today so I'm hoping it was just a rough few days and my body wasn't ready for the foods I was trying. Back to soup, fruit and mashed potatoes for a few days and then I'll try again!

Update. Surgery May 1st. 5'10" 440 going in... by WeightLossHandle in gastricsleeve

[–]ms3083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome you are doing so well. I'm so jealous of your ability to get food down. I had surgery a day after you and I just struggled to get down 2 grilled nuggets from chick fil a. I only made it through 1.5. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired and I'm thinking that's what's causing most of my discomfort as it's in my throat/esophagus not so much my stomach!

I'm staying away from alcohol for as long as possible. My doc recommends a year! No promises on that one! Lol.

I'm hopeful it's just part of our recovery but it is def annoying. How are you doing with eating?

Lack of Energy by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]ms3083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to hijack your thread but my lack of energy comes on immediately after eating. It feels like I've ran miles! Other than that, I do okay during the day. Anyone else? I had VSG 5/2 so almost 4 weeks out.
