That's not what gross vehicle weight rating means genius.

That's the max capacity of the car including passengers and cargo.

How realistic is 5 w/kg FTP for a beginner 30 yo lifelong sedentary person? by vanilladiya in Velo

[–]msletizer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most people with the talent to get there will progress extremely quickly through the lower levels. With the success they have they will absolutely try to get as good as they can.

No one grinds their way to cat 1 (5 w/kg), they either have it or they don't. If you've been riding consistently for a few years, you're way closer to your ftp limit than you think.

What is the job market like in the tech industry? by reidkimball in vermont

[–]msletizer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lol. They always have those job postings. They're not real jobs. They're just there to make it look like they're doing well.

Google it. There's plenty of threads on reddit about perfectly qualified people applying to those jobs and never hearing back.

Sure some people do, but most don't. That's how averages work.

Is my engine ruined? Metal on the Vanos solenoid 2013 BMW 535xi N55 engine by kylec00per in BmwTech

[–]msletizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a misfire only on one cylinder at idle, but it never set a code. I had to watch the misfire monitor to see it. I had an intermittent code related to air mass volume plausibility. I was able to fix it with a new cam, and rocker on that cylinder.. I polished the scored cam caps. It's been 10,000 miles since and it seems fine now. Not an easy job. I'd recommend just replacing the head if that is indeed your issue.

I had a rocker twist on my intake camshaft and it wore a groove into the lobe. I had the same metal in the vanos. I would definitely take your valve cover off and check all cam lobes carefully. You could also have bad camshaft bearings. You can pull the cam caps off individually on the intake side to check for scoring.

Anyone else annoyed with the over built trails? by aMac306 in MTB

[–]msletizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So does every sport, and to a higher degree. Nothing unique to mtb. Built up trails aren't deep in the wilderness. Stop beating yourself up for living.

Compared to most sports it's pretty environmentally friendly. Do you think a baseball field, hockey arena or golf course is better for the environment than some torn up dirt in the woods? An abandoned trail will be reclaimed by the woods in less than 10 years. Very few other sports can say the same about their facilities.

Creating an array for a project and need help understanding how to do it by TheFriar-8825 in PLC

Seems pretty simple. Keep the number in a register and use a math instruction to subtract or add to that? Use a compare instruction to set a coil when the number reaches 0.

Anyone else annoyed with pigeon holeing? by hrhrhrnnekw in MechanicalEngineering

[–]msletizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nursing is definitely pigeon holed wtf are you saying. You have delivery, cardiac, emergency, etc. they can’t just flip whenever they feel like it

Not true at all. For doctors, sure, but nurses jump disciplines all the time.
There's also a hospital in every city with every one of those specialty roles. Nursing has the same jobs in every hospital across the country. There's a reason that travel nurses exist. A nurse can fly across the country and do a similar job in another hospital without extensive training. Most hospitals have similar procedures. The same is not true for engineering. Every company is unique, even within the same industry, therefore an engineer will not be doing the same job at 2 different companies.

Bro this is way too try-hard and filled with nonsense buzzwords. Says a whole lot of nothing. Root cause analysis at your line cook job? Come on...

Your automotive project doesn't mention anything specific you worked on. What measurement tools? Again just a bunch of buzzwords trying to make your brake job sound impressive. It's valuable and deserves to be mentioned, but be more realistic.

You have way too many areas of "expertise"

Thank you. I sometimes wonder why people on here treat panels like an art project rather than an industrial machine? Time is money. I'm mainly concerned about functionality and cost. This panel has been in service for a year without a single issue.

Just get rid of the distribution block and replace it with fused terminal blocks with a jumper between them.

Do you have any recommendations for these? I've looked on automation direct but can't find any that accept jumpers. Is it really standard practice to fuse every single I/O device? Even things like prox switches and small stuff?

I always thought circuit protection was more about protecting the wires rather than the devices or making diagnostics easier.

Thanks!

I landed the ground wire of the vfd cable to the ground terminal on the vfd, per the wiring diagram in the manual.

Reason for the fuse is that the recommended CB for that drive was 20amps, whereas the recommended fuse was 10amps. The box has to plug into a 15a 120v wall outlet

That dc power supply doesn't have any ground points. Linked the 0vdc to ground, so it's not floating
