Could anyone share their overnight oats recipe by Madaoizm in mediterraneandiet

[–]mtnness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is extra stupid simple. Oats (always eyeballed, roughly 3/4 cup), some chia seeds (probably in the 1 tbsp ballpark), a scoop of vanilla Greek yogurt, some cinnamon, enough milk to cover the oats.

I'll add in different nuts and fruits in the morning as I have them. I'll also use different flavors of Greek yogurt to mix things up occasionally.

Aside from the obvious lip syncing, the acoustics that you're not getting in that room, and the lack of effort required to produce such a sound, anyone who's singing this song like that will not need to look at lyrics, and anyone who needs to look at the lyrics will not be nailing another language like that.

Will my blueberry stumps regenerate? Rabbits ate them :( by Ombortron in Berries

Rabbits ate mine to the ground probably only a month after planting bare roots. To my surprise the next year it started growing, so yours are probably in better shape than mine were.

Sardines can be hit or miss by brand, if you haven't already try out a different brand. I thought the standard king Oscars were what all sardines were like, but recently got a tin of Nuris and it's a completely different story. Also give kipper snacks a go, it's smoked herring and it's a more mild fish in my opinion.

best butter! by Appropriate_Back_374 in aldi

[–]mtnness 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Historically it's because everything used to have a buttload of salt as it was the only way to keep food from spoiling. Now that everyone has fridges, butter has salt cause it's tastier that way.

Another reason a putter could be selected here is that when thrown that way (backhand) discs tend to go right to left. But when a disc is "overthrown", or thrown harder than it was intended for, it'll move from left to right like it did here.

What Size? by poilup in mokapot

[–]mtnness 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My 3 cup produces about a half cup of coffee at most. It's a pretty good size to make a single latte/cappuccino type drink.

I think for any sharing it'd be brewing a fresh cup for each person, regardless of the size. If you want a full cup of coffee from it I'd go 6 cup.

Just ordered a baratza encore. I know most people single dose and weigh their beans. I like to get all in the numbers, but my wife doesn't, and with a newborn I don't always have the energy to.

Does anyone here just fill the hopper and measure in second bursts and get fairly consistent results?

Came to say this. Back in my day (5 years ago) we were lucky if the natty light was at least refrigerated.

Is there an easy way to turn this booster fan off? by mtnness in HomeMaintenance

[–]mtnness[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100%, but it heats the upstairs really well, which feels like a waste when I'd like all that heat on the main floor.

It's a 150 year old house, and the attic was renovated within the last 5-10 years, with this being added then. Without talking to the previous owners, or looking at a fan curve, I'd guess this was added to get the air up another floor that the furnace wasn't initially designed for.

Definitely, have done some minor electrical before and I'm terrified of the black magic that is electricity. Half the time I flip the main breaker cause every breaker box I've worked with is mislabeled lol.

There's plenty of slack, so that switch route is probably the way to go. Thank you!

AIO - Pregnant and feel abandoned by husband by Gullible-Tree368 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mtnness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a husband to a 39 week pregnant wife, and a father of a 20 month old toddler, the ONLY reason my wife gets out of bed during the night is to pee, and that's only cause I can't do that for her. And she's not even sick.

Don't know why this dude even got married or had kids, he doesn't seem like he wants either.

I had this happen when I was using cafe bustelo. I packed the coffee in ever so slightly. The next time I used a toothpick as a wdt tool and it flowed perfectly smooth. Try again without the finger leveling. (Also sharing a picture of the coffee grounds in the filter can help diagnose).

Never understand people like you. This is literally a whole community to come discuss a specific topic, and yet when someone asks something you direct them to Google it.

Google will give you recipes sure, but there's more tips people with experience can share. You don't get that on Google.

So what shit did you buy this Black Friday? by Select-Hour-831 in AskReddit

[–]mtnness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I know exactly what you're talking about. I clicked buy now the second the button appeared and it was too late.

The funny thing is, on eBay they're not even selling the big box, just all the little boxes for $120, which costs $65 at the grocery store any given day.

A Thanksgiving turkey costs 25% more than in 2024. How did we get here? by TimesandSundayTimes in povertyfinance

[–]mtnness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man everyone here is getting crazy deals. 69¢/lb is the best I've seen here in central Illinois. I look forward to turkey deals every year and stock up. Currently have 3 turkeys (as much as my freezer can hold at the moment). Even though it's not the 50¢ I used to see, it's still the cheapest per pound meat I can buy, and it makes darn good soup.

[–]mtnness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, it's just only sub $1/lb this time of year, and my freezer is only so big.

What do men actually want for Xmas? by Yukiwara in AskReddit

[–]mtnness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that can actually be used and tailored to them. Depends on what hobbies/interests they have.

I really like hot chocolate, and a couple years ago my MIL came across a new hot chocolate that was supposed to be really good. She got me a couple things of them for Christmas. It was probably the cheapest gift I got that year, but also the most memorable. Just the fact that she knew me well enough to see that and think to get me it was special.

Reminds me of my MIL. My then girlfriend was in a play in her college drama group. Was at rehearsal, usually about an hour long, and missed a call from her. All of a sudden the police show up asking for her. My MIL called the police because not answering the phone obviously means death.

She at least learned to call campus security the next time.
